hey guys. i'm looking to buy a sweet 97 cobra from a guy on the corral forums. he did the 03 cobra swap onto the teksid block amongst other things. to make a long story short, he told me that the motor reads about 70 psi of oil pressure on the autometer gauge when warming up, and goes all the way down to 15-20 psi when warm and idling. he said that he was alarmed by this too, but then was reassured that this is normal for modular motors. i just wanted a second opinion on this before buying the car. thanks guys, much appreciated.

I usually see close to 85-90psi during cold start-up (aftermarket electrical oil pressure gauge) and approximately 20-25 psi or so at warm idle.

His pressure readings don't sound too far off...high psi readings at cold start are normal for the 4v engines, if you are concerned about that part.

Check out the usuals if you are concerned about the health of the engine (compression/leakdown test). G'luck.
