Is this too much work?

I have a 2001 GT with, lowers head in shame, an automatic tranny. I hate the auto, but the deal was good at the time and i wasn't familiar with Manual at the time. I would like to change my stang over to a Manual. Is this just not worth the time and effort to do? Is it possible to put a 6-speed in?
Also on the GT i was looking at the Kenne Brown Supercharger, what would i have to change on a Stock 4.6 to make sure i don't blow up my engine? I wouldn't run more them minimal boost, i just want mid 300's hp. Any insight would be welcome.

Hey, don't be so quick to knock the automatic. There are many racers on here than them. The 4r70w automatic in the 4.6 stangs isn't a slouch either. A high stall speed converter, tranny cooler, shift kit/valve body, and 4.10+ gears in the rear will make that auto a killer.

If you want to swap over to a five speed, you can do that too. You can also do the 6spd thing, just realize its going to be quite a bit of work and if you're not familar with tranny work, you won't be able to do it yourself.

Stay with the 4r70w. They can be much faster then manuals. If you put the money you'd spend into a manual swap into your auto tranny, you'd have a very low 13 second car without even doing any engine work.
