Is Throttle Body Easy Installation?

I have been considering installing a new throttle body and plenum in my 1998 convertible. Is this an easy installation or can it be tricky? I have been researching on the boards and it appears Accufab is a suggested manufacturer. Anyone have these mods on their 96-98 Mustang? If so, which diameter do you suggest and do you have any advice as to whether or not this is worth doing? Thanks!

I have it done and mine is an 02. In your previous thread you said you are thinking of a blower so go with the 75mm TB and accufab plenum. Install for both took me about 40 minutes in the driveway with a basic socket set. As long as you make sure you remember where to put everything back on it is as easy as cake.

Thanks! Do you know of any links to a "how to" installation on these? Also, does the job require anything like RTV, etc? I installed my own Triax without any issues, but don't want to screw up anything motor related.

Not sure of any "how to" links. But all you really need to do is unbolt everything. Theres about 12 bolts or so. Disconnect the air intake tube from the throttle body, and also disconnect the throttle cable to the throttle body. Disconnect the vaccuum lines, theres only a couple. Simply take it off and bolt on the new one and reconnect everything. You dont need and RTV. Accufab will send you all the needed gaskets. If you installed your shifter with no problem this should be just as easy. And don't forget to disconnect the battery before you start. If you run into any problems during install throw up a post on here, or www.modulardepot.com and you'll get a quick answer.

Usually the TB comes with a complete install sheet with pics. I went with a BBK 75mm TB and the install was easy. Just take your time with the removal of the TPS screws so you don't strip them. Most even come with a replacement gasket.

Thanks Ryan. In your opinion, is this mod worth doing? I am looking for some bolt on power, and thought this might help. Do you think it hurts low end torque? I have read that some think it is best for high RPM's, while hurting the low end. What do you think? Also, what mm do you suggest if I don't go with a blower?

I would say this mod is worth doing. I felt no difference in low end torque at all and I felt a slight power increase above 4000. If you are staying N/A I would just a 70mm throttle body, this combo has shown the greatest gain. I have the accufab plenum and 70mm throttle body. I am heading to the track this Sunday so I will post up how much it helped. If you are into looking good too this is a great mod. The polished finish looks great under the hood! Check out this link for some independant testing...

Or just order the one from FRPP and the TPS comes with the new TB.
