Is Tune Required Off The Bat?

My mutha thumpr cams cams came in today. I talked to a guy that works at a performance shop here in Tyler,Tx. I want to know is a tune needed to drive my car after I install the cams. The reason I'm asking cause the guy is asking $550 for a tune, and I won't have that till a couple weeks. Is that too high or is that normal.

I'd bet the car will not like the cams and go into limp mode pretty quickly. Do you already have a tuner? Because if you do, whoever supplied the tuner might email a tune that would get you working. Is the guy providing your tune for $500 doing that on the Dyno?

I'm going to guess that you paid $700+ for the cams. Now is not the time to balk at what it costs to get a tune. You should be looking into long tubes and a crossover pipe and maybe axle-back, and install it all at once. Tune it just the once for your $500.

My guess is he is. He just put me off when he said $500. Naw I don't have one just yet but I'm working on it.

Sadly yea the only good thing here is they don't check the window tint nor really care if it isn't limo film.

Those cams (I believe) and the majority of the things that are talked about in this thread are not emissions legal. I'm not aware of any emissions legal long-tubes or cross-over pipes (catted or not).

I'm going to have to ask the guys in the car club where they take their cars to. They have to know someone everyone has their cars cammed. Some are running straight pipes
