Has anybody tried the iSimple - iPod Direct Connect Kit in their 2008 Mustang with the Shaker 500/Sirius unit installed?
I am looking to get direct iPod control so I can see track info etc. on the Shaker 500 display. I found the iSimple is available at Best Buy and I wanted to know if anyone here has tried it and if so what the experience was like. Would you trust Best Buy to install? Are there any issues? etc etc.

I had it and it was a pretty good kit, the only reason I got rid of it is I upgraded to an in dash monitor. One thing about it though is you have to cycle through the artists alphabetically, so if you have an artist like Van Halen, you have to go through every artist before that to get to it. As far as installing it at best buy, I used to work there and all of their techs are MECP certified so you should be good.

Not on my iPod!!! That honor would belong to ABBA.

Seriously though. Is that really the only drawback with this system? How do you access it? Does it replace another component?

You would probably need the tool to remove the radio, but after that, its just a plug in thing. You would have to run the Ipod connection either into your glove compartment or to the center console. Its not hard....but if you've had no experience doing it, I wouldn't recommend that you try.

Sounds like I shouldn't risk doing it myself. Thanks for the honest feedback. I hope you manage to sell yours OK.

no special tools are required, just some sockets, but its completely plug and play no splicing. It doesn't replace any systems either just adds ipod capability.
