well guys its about time i finally hit the "order" button on these damn things! $210w/ the master install kit. motive gears from brenspeed and another $300-350 to install them. anybody w/ a 5-speed, what should i expect besides fun fun fun!
how are these gears on the freeway? how about down shifting 5th to 3rd or 5th to 4th @75-80mph? should i do city driving for breaking them in or freeway...any advise will help.

Unfortunately I can’t tell you about gears in an S-197 just yet... unless there have been changes... it’s still an 8.8 rear housing but you will hear mixed reviews about break in.

I have run many sets of Motive performance gears in the past and after I pay the shop, upload my tune for the gears I hammer the throttle and drive like I always have... just nothing prolonged at the same speeds/rpms though. Drive it in traffic, stop light to stop light... take it to the interstate and run from one exit to another and shut it down for a cooling period. Next time out do the same and after that go have a little fun where ever that might take you and enjoy the new gears. :nice:
