its about time 4.10's...

well guys its about time i finally hit the "order" button on these damn things! $210w/ the master install kit. motive gears from brenspeed and another $300-350 to install them. anybody w/ a 5-speed, what should i expect besides fun fun fun!
how are these gears on the freeway? how about down shifting 5th to 3rd or 5th to 4th @75-80mph? should i do city driving for breaking them in or freeway...any advise will help.

Unfortunately I can’t tell you about gears in an S-197 just yet... unless there have been changes... it’s still an 8.8 rear housing but you will hear mixed reviews about break in.

I have run many sets of Motive performance gears in the past and after I pay the shop, upload my tune for the gears I hammer the throttle and drive like I always have... just nothing prolonged at the same speeds/rpms though. Drive it in traffic, stop light to stop light... take it to the interstate and run from one exit to another and shut it down for a cooling period. Next time out do the same and after that go have a little fun where ever that might take you and enjoy the new gears.

You will hear several different methods of gear break in so just adhere to what your installer tells you.
