Based upon the collective wisdom of stangnet participants, I installed a 75 mm Accufab throttle body and plenum, along with FRPP 4.10 rear end gears. Wow! What a difference this has made in my 2001 GT convertible. The performance has been greatly enhanced. In fact, it seems like a different car. It is much quicker off the line and much more responsive during acceleration.

Since horsepower/torque are addicting, what should be my next mod? I've already ordered the Diablo Predator Flash Tuner to advance my timing, improve my automatic transmission, and recalibrate my speedometer. Here is what I have been thinking: Steeda U/D Pullies, Pro-M 85 mm MAF, JBA shorty headers (because of ease of installation), Bassani O/R x-pipe, and Bassani catback exhaust.

Any advice?

sounds like your off to a good start. i have been interested in the throttle body and plenum from accufab but cant remember what MM&FF magazine the intake reviews were in. I have flowmasters because i love the sound, and would love to have a prochamber, but for you, i think a noncat x pipe and a nice cat back to match would be the next best step without question. x pipes are more power, and with the catback youll get ever more growl and a nice growl for your stang. Youll be most pleased with exhuast upgrades rather than other bolt ons because exhuast is a mod you can hear feel and see (if you get nice chrome pipes). But steeda pulleys are a good idea too but id def do those after exhuast. Good luck with your diablo, i oredered a chip from them and couldnt get it to work so i had to get a speedcal instead, but i didnt have the flash tuner. i dont know much about the MAF so maybe somone else could help you out there. good luck

Since you asked for advice which is really just opinions here goes.

Don't bother with the headers or the C&L MAF if you plan on staying n/a and never doing any internal engine work (i.e. cams).

Instead I'd suggest a new mid-pipe and cat-back exhaust. The mid-pipe will provide nice hp. gains the cat-back will enhance them slightly while providing good sound.

My vote is for a prochamber and flowmaster thunder cat-back. It will sound great. You can't go wrong with Bassani products either.

You won't feel any difference with pullies, but there might be some minor gains to be had with them. If I were to do it again, I would have skipped pullies on my car. I also would have skipped my C&L MAF.

You really don't need a chip, but like you said, it does come in handy as you can correct your speedo, shift points, and timing. You'll probably need to dyno tune your car if you plan on messing with timing and a/f ratios.

Based upon your comments, I should turn my attention next to the exhaust. I will probably need to do it in piecemeal. What would you recommend first: headers, o/r x-pipe, or catback exhaust?

Does anyone think that I should do more work on the induction besides the 75 mm tb/plenum, e.g., cold air induction or 80 mm maf?

Have you done CAI yet. Either drop in a K&N or put in a cold air package.
I would do the cat back exhaust system and not worry about headers at
this time. If you are staying n/a I wouldn't worry about headers. Also
think about getting a chip that can be tuned with a day on the dyno and
custom tune. You will get more out of your car with custom tune than
having a chip burned for your mods with no custom tune. Just my .02.

I felt a difference with mine, maybe there is a slight difference between the steeda and march pullies?

No to the induction question, it won't do much good with your stock mid-pipe.

Drop a K&N filter into your stock airbox and work on getting rid of your stock mid-pipe. You will feel and difference.

Once again, your stock MAF is fine, but do what you want.

Man, go with the x-pipe and cat-back at the same time. The underdrives should be useful with the flash tuner, because you can advance the timing. You want sound and power, go with x and cat-back.

Exhaust has been one of my best mods. Not only does the car feel faster, it sounds so much better and is something you can enjoy at any rpm. I agree with 2000gt and recommend flowmasters, although there are a few mufflers that may make slightly more power, the flowmasters sound best to me. Everyone has their personal preference and they all seem to be within 5 horsepower of each other.

Exhaust is a mod that is one of the basic foundations or building mustang horsepower. I don’t think that a mass air is a waste of money but it will not give you maximum horsepower per $ on a n/a car. It should be a future mod though. Same with pulleys. Headers are a great mod but can be a pain to install as you seem to know. Anything you can do to improve the air coming in to and exiting your engine are worthwhile.

The gears were a smart first mod and you seem to have a good idea on where to go.
