Whatever happened to this??

Mustang Fever

"The rumbling sound of a 302 with duel flowmasters,
drop the hammer and feel it get faster.
5 whole liters under the hood,
302 cubic inches of ground pounding, tire smokin, american muscle.
Eating hondas and 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'in' out chevy's,
rippen out 1/4's like no ones business.
Edelbrock, Holley, Vortech, Paxton Trickflow,
Crane, Crower, and Tremec, Flowmaster, Dr. Gas, Bassani and MAC,
the list goes on and the power's never ending.
It only gets better because there’s still much more,
there’s still steedas and saleens and it doesn’t end there.
There’s svo, svt, roush, and shelby,
from the little 260v8 that spawned the legend,
the S/C DOHC 4.6 that rules them now.
The stang has evolved, from a pony to a stallion,
don’t even try to run with us, because you know you wont win.
Sure your civic runs 12's I believe it, in the 1/8,
but ill run 11's in the 1/4 ricer, so come back again when you got more that 90hp.
From Rio red to sonic blue and everything between,
there will always be a special place for the stangs of old and the stangs of new, all of them, even the mustang II's ,

So i finally get it to engage and it took all the strength in my body to push that button in. Im so pissed right now. Between this happening, school, my insurance costs, working 2 jobs, and the rising gas prices....im selling this mother 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'er. Its a beutiful car i just cant deal with it right now, emotionally and physically. So if anyone is interested let me know. Of course im fixing it tomorrow by taking it to a mechanic and then by mustang and hello new car that doesnt make me want to put a gun to my head.

Just look at the brake pedal and you'll see a sensor connected to the pedal. It pushes on a metal rod right that trips the sensor and lets you shift out of park and illuminates the brake lights. Its worth a try for the minimal cost involved.

Sell the car. I can tell you from owning 9 Stangs so far, They are like a Jeep, if you drive them, you WILL have to work on them. It is usually little stuff like this that happens. I can tell from reading your posts that you have a bad temper so , sell the car.
I had an 83 GT that was slick as he!! and paid for. The water pump went out, I threw a fit because I was out of town and had to pay someone $165 to replace it. I raised he!! the next night at work and proclaimed" I'm sellin' that piece of crap" and made my price. About two hours after work , I'm standing in my driveway watching a guy drive off in MY car. I have regretted it ever since. BUT ,I bought myself a lesson. I ended up with a payment on a car that I didn't like as much BUT I learned to be more patient and look at the big picture( it cost me $8000).
That is what all these good fellas on here are for, to help our fellow stangers when they are in trouble and expect the same. I did not have this luxury when I was learning to work on cars. This site is awsome!!! I would not think of selling either of my stangs.

Take a deep breath and relax. Then go check that switch that everyone is talking about.I'll bet you a dollar to a donut that is the problem.Relax my brother, we are here to help you.

I agree with the brake switch deal. I think its called the brake/shift actuator or something like that. Its under the steering wheel and attached to the arm of the brake pedal. Its got two wires going to it. In my case, one of the wires ripped out of it with my foot. You dont need any tools or anything except something to strip the new wires I think. Its just a pain to fit down in there and look underneath. Mine went out and I couldnt get the button to go in. I had to walk to the Ford dealership. they felt bad for me and gave me the new switch. So it cant be that expensive. Its easy to replace, just watch how you take it apart and put it together the same way. Dont give up on it. Its an easy easy fix.

Drew, How old are you?

I hate to see people go, but if youre in college, that needs to be your FIRST and FOREMOST priority.

When I started Pharmacy school in 1987, I had a 1973 Jet Black Mustang Convertible 351 Cleveland. It was a HOT looking car, but the 40 mile each way daily drive was taking its toll, so I had to sell it. I still miss it, but getting a car at the time that was reliable with a warranty took ALL the stress away, and I was able to focus on school. NOW, I can get pretty much what I want

Seriously though, these cars are now 10 years old. They're going to have some issues. It's part of the game. If you're not the kinda guy that likes to get dirty and fix stuff, maybe it's not for you. Just remember, no one is going to stop what they're doing to watch a Camry roll by.

If it makes you feel better; my daily driver which is (or was NEW) now has 50,000 miles and the transmission has been rebuilt, hood is rusted shut, engine dies at red lights and sucks more gas than a 400HP Mustang, paint is peeling under the doors, has a leaking passenger window, leaking rear driver window, hand brake cables busted, transmission showing signs of needing another rebuild, alarm system and remote door look system magically screws up and will leave the car sitting with no alarm or door locks won't work and alarm will go off when I get into the car with MY key, very weak headlights I leave it on high beems and doesn't annoy anyone - can't see a thing with low beams, burnt out fog light because water got into the casing, wet carpet from leaking windows is rusting the hell out of the floor boards and my seat brackets are real rusted up bad, etc....

This is a car that is only 4 years old.

My lights werent lightning up either so this is my problem. Can anyone give me the name of the part and where you can buy it. RC, Im 17 going on 18 in october and i have done some of the work on my car. I have done the CAI(easiest thing ever) and my h-pipe and plan to install my headers and pullies from Viperos if i get my car fixed. Please someone let me know what the part it is. Im just taking it to the mechanic today. Ill let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for your help.

why are you going to pay some one $$$$ to work on your car today when the answer to your prob is in this thread???? go to ford or napa or carquest or autozone or advanced auto you pick. Call them tell them that your brakes are not lighting and that you cant shift out of park, I cant think of the part name but im sure they can figure it out for you and save you some money, its like one or two bolts that hold it in and 1/2 hour of work tops, the mechanic is going to charge you like 2 hours to trouble shoot it and 1 hour to replace that $20 part. doesnt make sence ot me

Ummmm, I've had cars that caused me bigger headaches than that and dealt with it. You sound young, still in high school right? Not too many high schoolers have mustangs like that. I've had all types of cars, throughout high school, I bought my 93 Cobra brand new at 21. Worked my butt off, but I did it, then I bought my 97 brand new fresh out of college basically, I was in grad school I think. Now I have all the cars, mortgage, wife, and kids. I the only one earning the income, but I just deal with any twists life throws me. I've worked hard and now I'm enjoying life. That's what you need to do. Be thankful for what you got and work hard to do better. Sounds like you don't know much about working on cars. Thats okay, the more you do yourself the more you learn.

because i worked my ass of and wanted something to show for it. I got back from school today and checked out what some of you suggested. Some in this thread that they yanked out a wire and....bingo. 2 wire hole and theres only one in there. im making the call to advance auto right now. thanks alot for your help guys. I just got caught up in the moment. you guys are life savers.

Ok, I'll chime in. Cars break. PERIOD. Now you can pay $350+ a month for a ride under warranty that will be fixed (or fu**ed) by the dealer....BUT EVEN NEW CARS TEAR UP!! Much less a car pushing 10 years old...BUT..this is one of the MANY things that make a Mustang such a desirable car for many people. They are cheap, parts are cheap, and for the most part, we can work on them ourselves. I enjoy working on my car, I really do, but I can see your point. I've had problems in the past that really got under my skin, you know, stuff I couldn't figure out. At times I was ready to burn, beat, or drive the bitch off a cliff. In those times, I put up the tools, go inside, smoke a joint, bang the old lady, and go to Stangnet or the Corral and start asking ?'s Nine times out of ten, when I go back to work on her, (my car...) my new found info and composure gets me through.

If you are footing all of your bills yourself, (no help from the parents), then most likely a Mustang is not a real good choice for your only method of transportation. Hell, I was 26 before I could even THINK about buying a Mustang, but I've been on my own since I was 16......

IF you do keep the Mustang, you might consider getting a beater car so when the Stang lays down, you won't be stranded. Believe me, this helps with the stress factor.... and the WORST thing you can do is try to work on your car in a big hurry, or when your stressed out.

Yea all cars have problems. I once came along a woman on the interstate with a $100,000 Mercedes roadster. The car was brand new and just shut off while cruising down the interstate and wouldnt start again. She kept saying, "I paid 110,000 dollars for this car, it shouldn't have done this." I was thinking, "this is life woman, nothing is perfect and everything can have problems."

Ok i had to go to Ford to buy the part. $16 for a piece of plastic and 2 wires So do i just clip the wires that are on there now and then connect the new ones to the old wires. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
