Anyone with JBA LT's have an obscene amount of vibration after install. Also have JBA offroad H and Magnaflows...Its so bad I think something is going to fall off! Took it to several exhaust dealers to check for leaks and proper installation and all is well according to them. I contacted steeda prior to install and asked if different motor mounts were necessary and they said NO, THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM...(I bought LT's from them). Anybody encounter this or similar problems and are there any solutions??? Any help would be appreciated.

According to JBA and their instructions they highly recommend the steeda motor mounts which i installed but yet my passenger side collector still hits the framerail and it sounds horrible. Not much i can do about it now since anything i do will require me to dish out a lot more money to fix it. So if you come up with a solution let me know.

Exactly the same thing with mine, passager side collector vibrating against frame. How can you stand it? I visited a local mustang performance shop and they recommended heating up the frame and hammering it out just a bit where it is rubbing. I dont like the idea but the alternative really stinks.

Panhandle,

Aren't you pleased with the R&D work that your first two major parts vendors did for you? That being JBA and the Mustang Tuning. They need to make it right...

kfd, did you install 2 hard/2 soft bushings, or 4 soft? I wonder, because I had the hard (black) bushings installed on the side the engine rotates to and mine don't hit.

Answer: BMR K-Member with Solid Motor Mounts...

This is why I am holding off on doing LTs.

I installed the black bushings and it still hits. Looking at the collector itself i can barely see between it and the frame. I'd be hard pressed to stick a toothpick in between it. So do you mean you have both black bushings on the passenger side or like the instructions said?

Shop installed them like the instructions. It was worth a shot...

Mine are pretty close, but IIRC, I could probably almost get a writing pen between the header and frame.

If the tubes are rubbing against the frame, try some heat resistant material in between them to dampen the vibration.

That's a good suggestion.

You could also get a set that fits properly. It surprises me that a company like JBA would put out a header that has tubes that rest against the frame. I understand tolerances and all, but lets get a little better than that.

i had the same problem

dont freak out i had the same exact problem!!! we went crazy trying to figure it out, we almost took the dash board apart...THANK GOD WE DIDNT. anyway i dont know what to call the part but it is a small welding coming out of the headers that are wilded to the headers from one side and attached to a piece of rubber from the other side....i really dont know what they are called but it raddles agains a bolt which is directly above it...you might want to check both sides...all you have to do is bend that metal thing that is coming out and you wont hear a sound....trust me it is very silly....if you have any Q's you can e mail me and i'll try to explain it a little better

I finally had enough of my header collector hitting the frame rail today so i decided to call JBA to tell em my mind and didn't expect them to help me out at all. To my amazement his first response to my dislike of the header was he was gonna ship me out a new passneger side header today and it should be there in 2 days; no questions asked. All i have to do is send him the old header within 30 days or they'll bill me for it and i have to pay return shipping which shouldn't be too much by ground. Good customer service in my opinion. But like yall said we never shoulda had this problem in the first place.

I have the JBA longtubes and stock mounts with no problems. 490rwhp and the stock mounts are holding up. I think it's just a case of no 2 headers or cars are exactly the same.

Ditto, I think that's exactly what it is. My passenger side header collector is very close to the frame (at the collector weld like mentioned above) but it doesn't rattle.

I actually had a rattle/vibration in mine, but it was the 2 H-pipe hangers hitting the 2 bolts on my crossmember. I just heated them with a torch & pried them down about 1/4".
