JLT CAI

They are claiming 12rwhp for the GT with the whole JLT CAI package..... how many true HP are we talkin or do you think its accurate in what they are tellin us? Or should i just keep the stock intake or get one off ebay?

ive heard with the demolet ones you get around 8rwhp but id think thats about as much as you could possibly get from just a cai...Im gonna call BS on 12rwhp...

a lot of that "12rwhp" comes from leaning your A/F. we still have yet to see a stock, tuned GT vs a CAI w/ tune GT (i.e. similar A/Fs). My guess is that we would see little to no gain on a lightly modded 4.6

personally I wouldnt waste your money on a CAI unless you want it to dress up your engine bay. If any CAI really gave you 12hp, dont you think everyone would be all over it? nothing against JLT, just don't buy the 12hp claim.

if you really wanna get one, also check out MRT. comes with a nifty carbon fiber cold-air box. looks really clean. like other CAI's, it probably doesnt do much at all for power, but looks nice.

If anything just put in a K&N air filter..

Eventually i'll get the full CAI and i'm going to have it custom painted just for dressup for shows...probably through JLT. I've seen a few they've done and they look sweet.

The JLT is a very nice setup. I don't know about 12rwhp on a close to stock N/A car, probably closer to 5-8. They look damn good BTW!!

mustangtuning has cai kits for 80$ for our cars, probably because thats what they are really worth...

JLT is pretty good at accurate claims. I'd guess 8-10 to be normal for their kit. DeMolet and JLT are the only ones worth looking at.

i personally dont think a majority of bolts ons are worth the money for such crappy gains on the 2V motor.

just buy a CAI based on looks, dont worry about #s.

agreed. I wonder what the hp gain/dollar spent ratio is for some of these parts.

Hence the reason I have ZERO bolt on power-enhancing mods. The warranty period for my '04 is merely an incubation period.

When the time comes:
1. Gears
2. Blower (conducive to stock internals, and then.....)
3. Suspension overhaul

I have a K&N FIPK and I noticed zero gains over the ol drop-in and removed silencer. Good thing it was damn near given to me.

I LOVE my JLT RAI. And for only 150 you really cant beat it. I couldnt nail it becuase i had installled cams the day before (no tune yet) but I noticed better throttle responce and freer revving. Had a K&N before it. Eventually you will run out of boltons, so just go aheads and buy it....and yes it does look GOOD. And the owner stands 100% behind his product, and listed the conditions in which he gained 12HP. Same day (30 mins apart) adverage of 3 runs each from what I remember.
