yeah you can get away with the 4 cyl suspension, tranny and rear but its definitely a good idea to get them swapped out with some v8 stuff sooner than later. you'll have to change over the brake and fuel lines, they run on the opposite side of the car than the 4 cyl cars do. you have to get a different pilot bearing if you want to use the 4 cyl t5 too, as the snout on the input shaft is a smaller diameter. you have to get one from like an 80's ford ranger, i don't remember what year exactly though. then of course, you'll need a new exhaust and transmission crossmember as well. that's all that i can think of at the moment, i'll let you know if i remember anything else. good luck!

oh yeah, it's been a while since i've done a conversion, but i'm pretty sure the radiator and rack and pinion are different too

well if you're building a new motor from the ground up, it'd be cheaper to go carbed since fi stuff can get expensive, but if you just pull an fi motor from another car and drop it in, it'll be cheaper that way, actually, because otherwise you'd have to spend more money on a carb setup. it might be a tad easier going carbed, as far as dealing with the harness, but imo, FI is the way to go.
