Just bought an '05 GT

Strange thread. First.. I think calling the guy a BS artist and giving him a rough time for not liking the S197 is a bit uncivil to be honest. Just because he doesn't like the cars we do?

I do wonder however, why he didn't realise this BEFORE he bought it? Surely if the size and weight of the car is his gripe, then a 20 minute test drive would have alerted him to that.

Also 7upstang.. the Fox in my opinion is not a proper Mustang anyway. The S197 was designed to recapture the feel of the big muscle car mustangs, so it's more comparable in size to a 71-73. The Fox platform wasn't really Mustang's best period.

If you like smaller cars, then yes, you made the wrong choice. I just wonder why you had to actually BUY it to realise that. You can see how big it is without driving it... that alone should have made you wonder if it's gonna feel bigger and heavier than your Fox.

Did you buy it without driving it?

As for the Minivan thing... I don't get it. The cabin is actually quite cramped. You sit quite low.. the windows are quite high, giving you a feeling of being cosseted, and wrapped inside it, rather than the high up, loads of light and space feel you get in a minivan. There is almost zero rear leg room in a S197 as well. Apart from width, there's not much space in a S197.... how the hell does it feel like a Minivan?

Did you buy it new? If not, then you won't make much, if any loss.

Have to say that, while they are very civil, after 2 weeks, they are not Mustangs. I consider it kind of a HUGE, fast, minivan. My wife likes it , because they don't squeak or rattle, but they have no road feel or personality.

I will be selling it at a loss so I can keep my fox body convertible. Definitely rougher, but about half the size (not just talking weight here) and WAY more fun to drive. Wish I could keep both, as the new one is definitely a high horespower
grocery getter, but I drive mustangs because they are fun, not practical. I'm sure I can throw a supercharger on it to get it to pull, But there is nothing that can be done about the behemoth size. I used to have an Oldsmobile Delta 88 as a winter beater, and this car reminds just a little too much of that car.

To Ford, thanks but no thanks. If this is what you have to do to your car to make it ride nice and have decent turn in, there has to be something else out there.
Even if the car had 1000 horespower, it would still be a minivan in size.

Maybe it's because I 'm not overweight, or old, ( i'm only 43) but the car is just TOO big for me.

sounds to me like this napoleon fella needs to get a serious reality check.

I don't think he meant to make fun of any car or anything here. I've driven the new 05+ stangs and they are nice but I can see where he is coming from. I'm actually thinking of selling my 01 GT for a new 07 GT right now, I've driven a handful of 05+ cars and while they are faster then my current GT they don't feel like it when you ride in one or drive it. Thats probably what he meant by the minivan comment. Just like my friends Bullett Mustang it doesn't feel like it would touch my car in a drag race, we haven't raced yet, but I know it will be a close one.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, I'm thinking about getting a Black 07 California Special, what did you gets pay for your CS stangs?

First off. I would like to apologize for ever making this post. It was bad form to post in the 05 forum and trash what is actually a good car. I took Darkfire GTs advice and installed a set of Eibach Pro springs and they made a BIG difference.

I am not a liar. So I have posted a picture of the new GT with my fox and you can just see my wife's 328CI (which we also must be lying about)

As I said, I apologize for making the post at all. I was feeling huge buyer's remorse (not due to the car, just due to spending a LOT of money) after getting the car and needed a place to vent. I'm really sorry.

One more thing to include in my apology. I have been comparing a bone stock 2005 GT to a fox body that has over 8K (Canadian) worth of upgrades as far as engine, gears, bracing, etc. Not exactly a level playing field.

One final note here, I have never minded, and never will mind honest criticism (thanks PooK, Darkfire, etc)

To the guys that called me a liar, Really now, did you think that was called for. If I really wanted to pretend I was something I'm not, I would find a Lamborghini forum.

Peace

Anyway, one picture to show all three cars at once.

and one picture to do the car justice
