I just finished my Cobra intake swap, we ran into alot of stupid little problems but we finally finished it.

The only big thing that went wrong was the timing, when we put the distributor back in the timing was way off and after like 30 mins the car started, and it idled good (alittle lumpy, but it wasnt bad). Then i stared to drive it and i got on it and i did fell an approvment, but something doesnt seem right, and when i put the clutch in to stop the car stalls so im assuming the timing is still off, also is it normal to have more whitish smoke comming from the exhaust? And how can i tell if any air is leaking from something?

thanx

after how long was the white smoke coming for?

it usually lasts about 10-15min depending on how much coolant you spilled.

if it is constant after driving it for a while, then its a gasket problem(either intake, which it is most likely if you had that many problems, or you advanced the timing so much that it pinged to hell and you eventually blew the head gasket).

goodluck

Whitish smoke is not good...I have white smoke, lumpy idle and stalling today and it is my HG's are blown. I hope that's not what you are dealing with, but this should not happen on an intake swap.

Is it a thick white smoke?

well i let the car run for about 5 mins after the manifold swap, and in the begining it was alot of white smoke, not alot, just alittle, and then it started to get less thick

 you blew a headgasket today? Ive been lucky so far, seems like everyone else on here w/ boosted 5.0's is blowing them left and right
