I had a 93 4cylinder lx auto. And it was great getting me through college now i want some fun I sprung for a 93 lx 5.0 auto and it is sweet. I just got done replacing all of the brakes for new oem parts and put flowmaster 40's on plus stainless steel tips. I want to keep it stock for the most part and the black apperance is what I like. is there any thing such as intake springs shocks struts you guys can recomend. I modded my 4 cylinder but things look different on this under side. Any help would be appreciated.

Id do high flow cats and headers. Gears will make a big diffrence too. The cobra intake is nice for mildly modded cars, Id do a throttle body while your at it too and maby a mass air meter.

well if you want to stay stock with the engine...what it looks like to me...than go for some full length subframe connectors, h&r lowering springs(havent heard any complaints about them yet), upper and lower control arms, definetly get some gears(3.73 is 5-speed or 4.10 if aod) i just noticed you want to do an intake. the cobra/gt40 intake is a really good intake and can handle most future mods that you do. the edelbrock performer is a really good intake also. if you want to keep the stock look of the engine private message TMoss and he can hook you up with a ported stock lower which from what i hear significantly helps a stock stang. nice looking ride and good luck

Just my opinion, but if you want to stay fairly stock, don't waste your time with all the little things. Forget the catted h pipe and headers, you'll see absolutely no power gain with a stock engine. If you do the better intake, it's not going to yield you much power at all without also doing the full round, which means bigger injectors, better heads/cam etc. Don't bother with that stuff, including the mass air meter until you are ready to get serious.

Like touched on already, there are a lot of inherent fox body weeknesses that need to be touched on before you start modding your car. My buddy has a heavy ass 89 convertible with 237k miles on an original longblock, original stock heads, stock intake, etc. he concentrated on all the other stuff.

your aod is severly holding you back, a shift kit is a MUST, I would also spring for a torque converter, etc etc. the more you work your aod, the better off you'll be. I would get gears too, but if you are not addicted to going fast, I wouldn't go beyond 3.55's or 3.73's Good rear control arms such as maximum motorsports are essential. Combine those with some good lowering springs/shocks, and you'll have a good efficient machine that handles great and performs great without spending butt loads of money on mods

Get gears and a stall converter, then a bigger mass air, ported lower, the rear control arms and subframe connectors. Then you will have some fun driving it, and that will for sure be the best bang for your buck, in that order of course.

Already owning a car like you have, start with a K&N filter charger and remove the noise baffle from the front fender. Tune it up and do the basics first. That alone will free up a extra hp and cost next to nothing.

No matter what people are telling you to start with the guys who addressed your transmission are right. Your AOD is the main thing holding you back but when you go to put a shift kit in it without a rebuild and start adding power, especially at this age, expect problems. My suggestion: first get the transmisson rebuilt with with heavy duty components and then add a 2200-2400 rpm stall converter, shift kit and cooler. This will cost money, but you'll enjoy having the peace of mind that you can drive the thing anywhere in the country and you won't be out of a vehicle at an unexpected time. 3.73 gears are the maximum you want to go. 4.10's may be fun for a city block but not if you drive on the highway. After that modify the engine to your heart's content. Add your subframe connectors and you'll have a car that will fun to drive and reliable.

To all thanks

I want to thank all who responded. I am definately staying close to stock on the cars looks. I do believe in the subframes, springs and shock/strut combo for better handling. I will work over the AOD for better performance where the shifting is concered. I like the gearing for now (daily driver status) but I plan on adding more as needed.

Again thanks for everything

i had a 93 limit edition vert with an auto and i put 373 gears in and wished i would have went 410. my friend has an auto hatch and feels much quicker with a 410 and still runs good o the highway. i would also do a trans go shift kit. i dropped 4 tenths with a 373 and another 2 with trans go shift kit.
