just got destroyed by a Talon TSI

So I go into work for my dad today in westboro mass, and I pull in next to a later model Talon. New guy, he's into cars, and I swear this thing came out of the Fast and the Furious. So we start talking and this guy starts talkin up his car, this and that, I got all this stuff in it, you're car is slow, etc. So when work gets out, around 3, (its a shipping company) we decide to play on 495 cause nobody was there. We line up at about 40, he honks it off, then we both take off.... I immediately gained several lengths until about 105, then we were about dead even. We're neck and neck till 120ish then he looks over, smiles, and absolutely takes off. :owned: I felt pretty stupid until I saw the giant NOS graphic across his back window. So to reclaim my manhood, I'm saving for a 100 shot.
Just figured I'd remind everyone that even though we drive stangs, we are still human. :bang:

yeah man thats not bad, you beat him that high, then he had to spray it .. shoulda hit the brakes and called it a day before he got the chance to spray ;)
 
yeah it was an AWD, and Rude I agree: with that much open road its go till you can't go no more... I did give up though after he sprayed cause there was no point in wasting gas. And the 408 stroker is in the mail.....

Hey...my philosophy is "you bring to the table what you bring" He won fair and square..

BUT....what pisses me off is if he didnt spray, and you won, he would be making excuses like "oh, that's a V-8" or " I have more power per cubic inch" or some $hit like that.

DSMs really have no room to talk tho, they come with more power stock than us, and for some more power they can turn up the boost. Most DSM owners i have come accross dont make up excuses. They are not like honda owners.
 
Yea DSM owners are more like stang owners. The both come with the same amount of power (almost) Eclipse 205, Mustang 215 and they both respond well to mods. They are not like a slow honda or vw owner that wishes there car was fast. At least you got smoked by a TAlon becuz technically it is American. :flag:

well first of all those cars only come with 195 stock, not to much off from what you said but still, an there is nothing american about any of those cars, they are all mitsubishis. same engine throughtout all of them. the only difference bewtwee an eclipse, a laser an a talon are taillights an bumpers, an that is it, everything else is identical. those cars can be made fast very easily an cheaply but they are the biggest pieces of garbage ever, all they do is break, ask any DSM owner an even they will tell you. but all i have is 4.30s gears an i destroyed an eclipse GSX (awd turbo) i dont mean just beat i mean like murdered it. the kid couldnt believe his eyes, he doesnt know i have gears, i showed him my engine an it is bone stock. also those cars slightly modded cant even beat a stock fox body, my friend raced one in his bone stock 90 lx, i mean like nothing at all , not even exhaust or an air filter an he beat a slightly modded talon TSI. i mean they are fast for the money you can get them for but i would rather havea mustang any day, ive driven a few of them cause my friends have them an they feel loose an sloppy when driving, its almost like getting a bikean loosening all the bolts on everything then riding it around. i would take the slowest mustang ever before i drove one of those.

correction - i think you mean they WERE produced in Normal, IL, but they stopped cause they realized they are crap. and they were only assembled there, all those cars are all mitsubishi parts from overseas. if you look on any tags on the fenders or anywhere it will say mitsubishi. i have no problem with the cars, a few of my friends have them but they are overrated. this kid with the gsx talked so much ****about my car how he was gonna smoke me, his car has a big 16g turbo which if u dont know its the bigger upgrade for those cars and a boost controller so his car is set at 15psi, but i think he actually has more. he now wants to sell the car because he hates the fact that a stock mustang can beat him. haha

yeah I know, no pulleys.

I'm not mad I lost, just saying that I have more respect for these cars then I did before. I'm sure he would have had me on the high end anyway as thats not what our cars are built for and mine is pretty stock, however, the way he accelerated all of a sudden leads me to believe he sprayed.

And the base 2nd generation Talon TSi has 210 horse from the factory.

EDIT - forgot the JET chip...

Wow, where to start. Im a DSM and Stang owner so Im not biased either way. Both cars are mod for mod pretty much neck and neck up to around the low 12 high 11 sec range..then the 4cyl drivetrain starts breaking up and some tranny work and maybe center diff work should be done..

Sometimes stock DSMs will be quick sometimes not..But who gives 2 craps about your stock(other than gears) and his slightly modded talon are still slow as crap in my book. The loose feeling youre talking about I dont know where you get that from. My 94 is extremely sloppy feeling, and my 95 talon felt 100times more agile with the stock suspension on it(but not stock anymore though). Also the ford interior is no better than my Eagles interior. Both have their quarks, and cheap feeling parts. But my Talons seats are 10 times more supportive(comparing leather to leather).

The whole bottle is for babies comment was stupid. Do a poll guy..I guarantee their are more mustang nitrous users than DSMers. Most DSMers arent to the level that a $700 nitrous kit(a good wet kit) would be better than more bolt ons that could up the power 50hp all the time.

That turbo is not even close to a big turbo. It only flows in the area of 35lb/min. 20gs and up flow 44lb/min and up and will flow enough for 400+ hp. That b16g will only go up to about 350 hp...more is possible, but not efficient.
