Maybe I am missing something. Flowmasters dont have anything on the inside except for welded bafles. So what is breaking in on the inside???Ryan02Stang said:Flows do take a week or so to break it. I thought mine were really quiet at first but they really started to come alive. the midpipe has a HUGE effect on sound. when i put on the X pipe with cats it was LOUD. if you are still not convinced have a trusted friend drive your car around with you following...you will be AMAZED to hear what your own car sounds like to others![]()
You got me. That's what I want to know.brednova said:Maybe I am missing something. Flowmasters dont have anything on the inside except for welded bafles. So what is breaking in on the inside???
Sorry guys, but that's a big myth and nothing more than that.
something like that, youll notice after a while when your ears start hurting what the drone isExactly. Flows do not break in. I think I would know considering I am on my eighth set of flows... here is the list 1 through 8.01'TRUE BLUE GT said:Flows break-in and get louder??? Ahhh ... yeah, right!Sorry guys, but that's a big myth and nothing more than that.
I've used Flows my entire life and never noticed them getting any louder or "breaking-in". That's physically impossible with chambered mufflers ... there's nothing in there to break-in or change over time! Some people claim that the metal itself gets "seasoned" over time from all the hot and cold cycles, but I still say that's bs too. I'm on my 2nd set of Flows on my car and they never changed in sound from having them on longer.
What you get when you first put them on is what you're stuck with unless you change your midpipe to make them louder ... they don't break-in. I was also dissapointed when I welded the original 40s into my stock exhaust ... too quiet. Since then I bought the 'packs and ran those with the stock H and they sounded great, but I missed the chambered sound of my Flows. Then I bought my catted X and the 'packs were then too loud (for me) so I went with the American Thunder C/B (Delta 40s) and it sounds perfect now.
You have to upgrade your midpipe for those Flows to come alive ... otherwise you'll be dissapointed until you do. Changing to 1 chambers would make it louder, but it won't sound as good as it would with the 40s.
dont let anyone here scare you off because of the "RASP" blah blah blah jibberish of the x mid. Get an X , its loud and sounds bad assAs you can see from my flow list, I am not a rookie when it comes to exhaust. I was a rookie at the hole mid-pipe though. After owning several cars with flows, catted and non(older), I think my off-road x sounds the best. But it is a neck and neck run between the 200r gt and the 1973 comet gt(302).trublustallion said:O/R X Pipedont let anyone here scare you off because of the "RASP" blah blah blah jibberish of the x mid.
