Just Got My First 1/4 Mile Time...

Man I think you did good for the first time out and with the extra weight of a passenger to boot.

Most folks fall into the show or go camp with a few exceptions and I've seen enough pics of your car to know where your focus has been...............

You car is really a good looker IMHO. :D

Are you moving into that execption camp of Show & Go all in one, lol?

Again good job :nice:

Nice, man you guys are good motivational speakers!
You seriously think with practice I could get mid 14s?
I am now officially - addicted :D

I didn't run it on a track actually.
My friend just bought one of those machines you hook up to your car
and it can give you your mph and 1/4 times.
We made sure to calibrate it properly.
I can't remember how much his cost...
but I can't remember what my 60' times were?
my pal york has it all writen down.

See when I was making my runs...
I didn't WANT my buddy beside me, but because I was doing worse than I wanted, I didn't care.
I was actually trying to break 15 seconds with him IN the car, then kick him out, but we got screamed at by some dude in his pick-up after we made a few runs on his street :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

thanks again though guys, i really appreciate the words of encouragement
even if rgs puts the beats down on my times :p

I am friggin addicted though
I was going to buy one of those machines but I was afraid I would try to beat my 1/4 time each drive to work.

I want my car to move.
I'm going to spend some coin in making it look how I want it to, but at the same time, I want it to bark when I want it to.
Seriously, a mid 13 second car is all i want.
:D

If I can achieve that without getting too hardcore into it, is another matter altogether

Well, not to put a damper on things, but with this recent knowledge I take back my predictions. At a real drag strip your 1/4 mile MPH is an AVERAGE MPH of the last 66' of the track. For example I trap 112mph, at the end of the track I'm probably at ~114 or so. The G-tech type meters do NOT account for this and record your ACTUAL speed at the end of the track. With this being said your MPH is inflated about 2mph or so from what it would really be, and in that case your looking at mid-high 14's... but its still 14 second capable.

BTW- I G=teched my car when it was stock... it said I ran a 15.1 at 92mph, at the track I ran a 15.2 at 90mph. And the same goes for the 1/8th mile MPH, it too is an average. Next time your at the track look and you'll see two timing markers close together at the 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile marks.

Yeah that changes things a bit, I think it was Car and Driver? that recently had an article rating and comparing all those measurement devices such as gtech etc.. When calibrated right by going to the track and setting it up etc they were pretty good..
but still never gunna be as acute as if you really run it

so.. go to the track.. I've never been myself, still a bit nervous I'd run a 16 and get the obligatory mocking.. and my tires suck ;)

Hm, interesting. I figured there was something about it that I couldn't quite figure out. it still isnt a bad time, it gets me in the ball park and shows me how to properly launch my car. I never realized letting the tires peal actually gets me a better 1/4 - within reason. See how I think things through too goes along what Epikk was saying before... I just know if I go to the track, I know damn certain I'll want more than just the dinky engine mods I have on it now. Until I can feel the car reaching the 1/4 time in a high 13 second bracket, will I then really have the confidence to make a good run.
So the g-tech is inflated a bit. That's alright. So long as there's still room for improvement on my behalf.

Any other suggestions?
I'm lookin at mods too.
Not really interested in nos... as far as gears go...
i'm comtemplating the jump to 3.73s

3.73's are the best thing I have done to my car yet. Way more kick than any of my other mods. You'll definitely be happy with the results. I know I am.

Do you use your car as a daily driver?

I did open up my exhaust.
That much I was able to get out of the way ;)
maybe i should just dump a supercharger in it with good injectors :D

just to put the gears in perspective, I have 3.73's on mine which is my daily driver. ( 5 speed) and i actually wish i went with 4.10's. but i don't do to much freeway driving. if you do alot of freeway driving then 3.73's plenty.
