Well, I was driving home from Blockbuster tonight about 9:30, and I decided to get on it through first and second. Bad idea. I stopped accelerating around 55, slid it into 5th, and cruised back down to 48 or 50 (this is in a 45 zone). Well, about a mile down the road i see the blue lights in the mirror, and since the radar detector hadn't gone off at all, I'm thinking wtf is this clown doing. He comes up to the car and asks me if I know why he pulled my over. Me: "Uh, I don't know; accelerating too fast?" He just asks for my license and parents phone number (I'm 17). He calls my mom, then comes back to the car and I'm thinking "Great, my mom is gonna be pissed when I get home AND I'm gonna get a ticket". Turns out he was really cool about it. He's like, "What is that, a '94?" Me: "Yes sir" Him: "Yeah, I used to have a '93 notchback, ran 9.4 in the quarter mile, so I know what a temptation it is having all that horsepower under your foot" Me:"Yes sir" Him: "So, sounds like you got a B303 or E303 under there. What you runnin?" Me: "Well, just a few bolt ons for now, I haven't had the car long enough to do any real mods" (I left out the part about the o/r h pipe- I'm suprised he didn't smell the fumes from a mile away lol). Him:" Well, you can go ahead and take off the air silencer and bump the timing to about 14*, that should be good for an easy 5 hp or so." So I'm thinking wow, what a cool guy. Then I got the talk about being safe, which I understand, I'm young, therefore stupid. Me: "You know, it's a Sunday night, there was no one around, I thought it would be okay to open it up a little." Him:" You're preaching to the chior, man; I know where you're coming from, just be careful". I'm just glad I didn't get a ticket. I went home to a fuming mother, but I was able to talk my way out of that. Apparently he was standing outside of his car when I passed him and he "estimated my speed to be around 80". Well that's bogus because I was in 2nd gear, I explained how he couldn't possibly estimate my speed accurately from outside his car, he just heard loud red sports car with young driver, therefore obviously recklessly driving. The fact that I didn't even spin the tires on takeoff proves that I wasn't racing or anything (even though there was no one else around), and I explained how there was no acceleration limit, only a speed limit; furthermore, I was in second gear. I was just wondering if any of you guys had had similar experiences. I'm glad there are cool cops out there who aren't just out to get you.

That's the best part!
