ok so last night i was trying so hard to get my times down
i went from 2:73s to 4:10s in my 89 5speed and i cant figure out why i cant get traction when i only have 10 pounds of air in my mickey tompson drag raidals when im launching at 2k

my current mods are pulleys, fell exg., cai, and new 4:10s

by the way my drag raidals are getting down there tread wise should i get new ones and try it?

Is it hot there? How was the track prepped? Plenty of VHT? I couldn't hook for the life of me last Sunday and I run 3.55's with 275/50 BFG DR's. The outside temp was 97 degree, which made the track like butter. Also, stock suspension + 4.10's = spinnnnnnn.

This may be why:

Stock peak torque: 300 lb/ft

Stock gear: 2.73:1

Stock 1st gear: 3.35:1

300 x (2.73 x 3.35) = 2743 lb/ft of torque to rear tires

Now put 4.10:1 gears into the equation:

300 x (4.10 x 3.35) = 4120 lb/ft of torque to rear tires

You've nearly doubled the torque to the rear tires!

Suspension mods......? I got the same promblem man. But they are fun.

I think if I invest into some lower control arms, and adjustable shocks it might help but really dont know.

I heard once you can get your 4.10's to hook it will "feel" like a 100HP gain.

I know some guys that have run 20psi in the MT DR's.
I personally ran 16 and launched at 5500 with 4.30's and a 3.35 first gear T-5. Never spun once. But I have alot of work in my front and rear suspension.

back timing to 5*, reinstall the 2.73 gears.

traction will return...............

or

remove the sway bar, run the slicks at 12-14psi, and go to a track that preps.

If you can't find a good RPM to dump the clutch from, you can start your runs from 1000 - 1500 RPM's. Sure you'll bog, but you can always move the RPM's up until you hit your spot where you won't spin but you won't bog either....
