Just got done installing my 4.10's this past saturday, I'm pretty happy with the outcome, I really dont think I would have been happy with a 3.73 after driving around for a while with these 4.10's. The car is without a doubt recieved a massive kick in the ass in the acceleration department.

i think the underestimate 373s, u will still get a kick. trust me i just did it. 373s arent too far off tho and makes it a lil bit nicer for the street and cruisen rpm. i can shift into 5th gear at like 35+ mph now which imo is crazy to already be in overdrive, lol

Haha yeah man I know what you mean, I can now cruise around in 5th gear. Its definately a big change at first , but a damn good change. I've driven a 02 gt with 3.73's and I liked it also, but just decided I wanted something a little lower.

4.10's were the right choice for you over the 3.73's. Especially given your mod list.

I swapped from 3.73's to 4.30's, love it :)

+1 ... +1 ... +1 :nice:

The b cam is not known as a power house low tq producer ;)

That steep ratio gets you through that part of the band quicker
and
To the part of the band where you are more efficient at making hp

Looks like you have found :rlaugh:
Steep gears are really fun in 3rd and 4th

Good to see you are havin fun :D

My 3.90's are great fun too. Not fun when your tires have no grip though. But for tooling around town, these high gears are great. Plus you are not constantly pushing in the clutch in traffic! You can creep along.

not to hijack this thread but what all would i need to install gears...i have 3:73 ready to be installed..i'm not sure all that would be needed or required to install them...

well if you dont know a thing about the install, I wouldnt attempt it myself. It's not really that hard, but you have to make sure u have the right backlash and its really got to be setup right. If you have a install kit with shims and new bearings, it should'nt cost you more than 200 bucks or so for any shop to do it.

I had my 4.10's installed about 2 months ago, and it completely changed the personality of my car. Of course, going from 2.73's in a heavy AODE vert to 4.10's was bound to make a difference.
Now I need a chip to correct my shift points, if I floor it the car bounces off the rev limiter before it shifts. You won't have that problem with a 5-speed.
Have fun!!!

I love it when I see, there isn't much difference between 3.73's and 4.10's when asking if 4.10's are to high.

Then I see that 4.10's are WAY better than 3.73's when they are getting 4.10's.

Congrats on the gears:nice:

AODE's and the computer are a crazy combo. It's not confirmed, but we had a discussion about gear changes over the years. It seems going from 2.73 to 3.73s won't cause a stock computer (not retuned) too much trouble. Nor will going from 3.08 to 4.10s. It's the bigger leap from 2.73 to 4.10s that screws with it the most and gets the dreaded rev limiter or hanging shift. :nonono:
