Well, i finally went and bought my Bassani Catback today. I fugured it wouldn't be too bad after cutting the old catback. Well, i was a bit wrong...
I had the on jack stands so i had a good amount of room but it was still a biotch to get the SawzAll under there and cut the pipes. Then came the hangers. The ones for the tips were easy but the muffler hangers were a PITA to get to. The pipes and muffler interfered and made it alot harder. After all that was off with the help of liquid wrench and metal shavings all over, the Bassani install began. At first, it was fine and the section connecting to the midpipe was simple. Then it came time to snake the new pipes over the rear axle....game over. My buddy and i tried for almost an hour and there was no way it was gonna work. I tried everything short of unbolting the shocks to get more rooom. I finally gave up and drove to a muffler shop with no tips and the exhuast coming straight out of the mufflers.
They got it on a lift and it took them a bit but the unbolted a shock and wiggled things around and finally got it. I was pissed because the hangers arent welded perfectly straight so the tips arent straight, they both point in. I guess when i have extra time one day, i'll get under there and move crap around to see if i can get them lined up. Overall, the Bassani sounds good, but not yet loud enough for me. I know it will break in and i'll be going with an O/R X-Pipe in a few weeks, so i'm not too worried about it.
If you plan on installing a catback yourself, get an electric reciprocating saw, some liquid wrench, 10mm socket for the hangers, another socket for the nuts connecting to the midpipe that i dont remember
SIDENOTE: I now know what people mean when they say the exhuast gets deeper when its dumped. It was really loud and droned from 1k-4k rpm on the way to the shop lol
