Like the title says. Im really into the 99-04 mustangs and own one, but I decided to add a 5.0 to the family. My main question is, i want to immediately swap out the 5.0 and the auto tranny for a new motor and a manual tranny, or build up the 5.0 (87,000 miles on it) and swap the tranny out. Are there any stickies or good sources of info on any of this stuff. Thanks -Tom

What is your long term goal with this car? What kind of power do you want to make?

Let me just throw one thing at yuo that you may or may not already know. When you swap the motor and trans, make sure to use silicone sealant on the flywheel bolts that bolt to the back of the crank, or you will have an oil leak that looks like a rear main seal leak. I had my new motor in and out a few times before I figured that out. Just trying to save you a few headaches.
Good luck....

Lol, yeah just put my 331 together and that was one of the first things the guy who built my shortblock said... Def important!

Agreed though what are your HP goals etc, n/a boost turbo supercharger etc..... Anything you can think of now pays off in the future since each mod is unique to what your goals are...

So would this be a good idea to do if you pulled the flywheel for resurfacing during a clutch install? My clutches days are numbered with my future plans so I'm going to get ready to swap it out.

If you want to change an auto to a stick. It is nice to have a stock unmolested donor car. That is what I had to swap my 4cyl auto notch to a v-8 5 speed. You need

Transmission
Driveshaft
Bell housing
Clutch P.P. Flywheel
Crossmember
Clutch Pedal Box
Trans wire harness
Computer

It is an easy swap, there is just little B.S. that you need here and there.

If I'm understanding the question. Yes, if you remove the flywheel for whatever reason, you must must use sealant on the flywheel bolts before you bolt it back onto the crank. It's a good idea to take a rag with a little acetone on it to clean out the bolt holes on the crank. Good luck..
