Just went to get subframes put into my 91 convertible...bad news.

Just took my 91LX convertible in to get some Kenny Brown subframes with the seat supports put in only for shop owner to tell me and show me the rear subframes are too rusted to weld the subframes in properly for performance use.

He said he can put them in but he cant weld to the rear subframe, only to the rear reinforcement plate.

He said it would be better than not having them but the car would not be suitable for performance or any high horsepower applications.

Has anyone ever gotten the rear subframes repaired or replaced? The shop owner said it would be cheaper to buy another car but I will be into same problem of trying to find another Fox convertible that isnt rusted out.

This sucks and not in the good way.

---Don't know if you're around, but check your PMs for info on a donor body down here in AL. Don't know what it would take to get it because you can either boy the frame or the body and not both... lol. The start of making it legal up there would probably require the same as it would in Cook County, IL. (Chicago), a "builders' permit

Depnds on hwow bad its rusted. There are people who will replace every rusted piece of tin they find on these cars. One guy on either FEP or AFM had repaired his radiator support. Depending on who you go to and the extent of rust it will be cheaper to weld uip than to bit a new chassis.
