just your average balancer questions

From my research I have found out a lot of the info I will need to pick the right balancer, but I just want to double check if I have it correct and some more questions too. The top two balancers are Romac and Pioneer/powerbond. The pioneer is more in my price range. The balancer should be a 50oz piece, SFI approved is a big plus, and be the 4 bolt. Is elastometer the best construction? All that I have seen have timing marks that only go up to 10 BTDC, are there other models that go higher? Will I need a spacer? Did you have to put a coat of clear on yours to keep it from rusting? part numbers would be awsome.
Thanks

The one I put on our 93 GT is a Pioneer OEM replacement and it's holding up well thus far. If I remember correctly, the marks go past 10 degrees. I want to say they go to 20.

The one provided by the engine builder for my 347 kit was a Professional Products once and was about $75. He swore by it so that was good enough for me.

The expensive shiney steel ones will be the best bet, but again, they're expensive.

You understand some hb's are SFI ... right

They cost more but are supposed to be built with more quality

Also ... The Romac is a quality hb :nice:
but
It has caused some a lot of grief when they go to install it

I want something much better than a stock replacement, but should be under $200. The pioneer/powerbond seems like the best choice. Still not sure if ill need spacers or if the timing marks will goo high enough though?

If you wanna go to a really nice SFI hb

I have been real happy with my Pioneer pn 872030

No install hassles like with Romac
No spacer needed also

A quality part for sure

I been running one since early 2003 with no probs
and
I spin it up to just a bit more than 6K on occasions too

Thanks, that is exactly the info I was looking for. Thats the one I have been looking at, and probably going to get. Do the timing marks only go up to 10 BTDC, cause that is what the description on summit's page says?
