K Members, A-arms, coil-overs?

Tubular K Members, Tubular A-arms, do I need coil-overs?

Okay, I want to lose some weight in the front of the car. I figure an easy way to do so would be to switch to a Tubular K Member with a set of Tubular A arms. My question is this...can I use my set of Ford racing springs and a regular set of shocks/struts, or do I have to buy a coil over kit as well? Just curious...these are the components I have been looking at...

Help would be appreciate...cause if I can get just those two components then I can afford this, but if I have to get the coilovers too then I cant afford it for a while.

it depends on the a-arm & if they have a standard spring perch, & those don't

ALTHOUGH, you 'can' use your stock struts if you want to save some cash. you just have to grind the strut seats. i can post pics if you need them

What a arms fit that k member (brands) and have spring perches? And yes, pics would be sweet.

I went to PA racings web site and as an available option on those A arms it says:

#
Spring Perches: Available with bushing ends.

Would that be what I want if I want to keep my ford racing springs /struts and not do coilovers?

you know what, i think that k-member will allow for stock a-arms, if you wanted to go that route. i'll have pics up in a few minutes............

this is where i had to grind the bottom strut brace so the coil over kit would work

& this is where i had to grind the strut seat off

i have a ton of pics from my install if you want/need to see them. only thing you'll have to really do differently when you install the tubular piece is move a ground wire

i knwe you could do a k member and keep stock or aftermarket springs, but can you do a- arms also to save more weight and still use springs?

i am going to get pa k member also, but i didnt think i could use the a rms too.

so you are saying if the arms have spring perches then you can use them with stock springs?

yes if they have perches you can use them. although if it were me i'd just get a k-member where you could use the stock arm. i personally would feel a lil more comfortable doing it like that & here's why........ *note* this isn't factual, it's just the way I see it......... the tubular a-arm has a spring perch welded on, a stock a-arm is cast with the indentions inside the arm. in the stock a-arm there is plenty of metal holding the spring in. on the tubular a-arm with the welded perches, you only have a few different welds holding the spring in. & the front springs are holding about 1/3 of the cars weight. because of that i'd feel more comfortable doing the stock a-arms if i hadn't done the full coil over setup

here's my front suspension setup

D&D tubular k-member
D&D tubular a-arm
steeda 4 bolt c/c plates
QA1 coil over springs - 14", 200lb
steeda coil over kit
stock struts (for the moment) soon to be strange adjustables

I just installed a PA Racing K-member and I used my stock A-arms and current suspension which is Eibach Pro-Kit Springs and Tokico Struts.

Contact PA Racing and tell them what you want to do. They will build you a K-member to meet what ever suspension you want.
