K&N installation

To install the K&N air filter, simply pull up the metal strap around the base of the air box. NOTE: The air box is the black plastic portion that holds the air filter. This will loosen it enough to pull the intake tube(rubber black tube) from the air box. It will also make it easy to slip the air filter out. If you wish to remove the silencer, you will need to remove the air box as well. There should be only one nut holding the air box in place. It will be to the top side of the air box. Remove it and unhook the air box from the intake tube as I explained above. Then, remove the air box from the engine bay, remove the filter, and there should be a black rubber piece that extends out of the plastic air box. Thats the silencer. Remove it and place the K&N filter into the air box. Then, rebolt the air box into place and then re-attack the intake tube to the air box. You should be set from there.

Removing the silencer is a personnel thing, it will get you more sound out of the engine when you get on it and let in more air - as far as any hp gains or not that is up for a vote as well. MM&FF magazine says gain of 5hp - some tests show a drop of a few hp. I have mine off just to get more air.

1 other suggestion, i've herd that removing the silencer may void your warrenty if a mechanic notices it, so if your ever having car problems be sure to put it back on.
