Dyno 2001 GT KB 14# pully (11# actual) 500rwh/491tq (11.5:1 A/F)
Dyno KB VT heads/Comp cams

Just finished installing VT Stage 2 ported heads and Comp XE268H cams.
Great idle.

Previous Dyno was 441rwh/465tq....

Plan to put 17# pulley on later. This sould get me back to 14#...

Umm. Not to discourage you, but 14# 1.7 liter KB can get 500 rwhp on stock heads and cams. Its been done before. The reason your only seeing 10-11pounds of boost is because your heads are ported. I believe Michael Kidd had the same problem with his. His heads were to ported and matching it with the kb 1.7 liter it was only seeing 9#. So he added nitrous. He also had cams.

I'm willing to bet if you put stock heads on that car and keep the same pulley a good dyno guy and your car would see the same numbers.

The benefit of ported heads and cams is making the same horsepower at lower boost. He would reap the real benefits of the heads and cams by changing the pulley to get back to 14#'s of boost and would be 550+ in the HP area.

IMO, running less boost and more cam and flow is easier on the engine.

Pump gas .. I would like to here of someone with their daily driver get 500 using the KB 1.7 with stock stuff. Some have tried and lost...

Yes but 500rwh on stock stuff was done with 100 octane race fuel plus a whole bunch of timing. (22 degrees all the way through) Not sure how long this would run. Would like to see someone take this configuration to the track and run it a few times. This is on the edge..

We got 500 with pump gas 93 octane... Conservative timing 14 degrees down low graduating to 22 up top. The cams flattened the hp line up top. Significant drop with stock cams..

Issue with KB is heat generated. Dyno looks great and AIT looks fine with a single 4th gear run.. Try it through all 4 gears...
