I'm just back from a car show in MA. Lots of nice mustangs, the options boggled my mind! I have an 06 GT and want to put a blower on it. I have come down to a KB or a whipple. I will eventually rebuild the bottom end of my car (it has 20K on it now). I would like a blower that will eventually put out as much as I can afford to do with the bottom end. Is the KB mammoth the way to go?? I will have all winter to pull the engine and have work done, so time is on my side with these flipping long maine winters.
Which blower is best?? Also does anyone know any good shops on the east coast?? I was at the NH dragstrip, but didn't come away with any good information. I am not sure if I will install the blower myself. I have had offers of help from patients who are mechanics, but I may elect to drop the car off. I have had an offer from a local dealer to put a whipple on. I'm not sure I want to go that route. Anyway which would I be able to get more out of in the years to come? Whipple or KB?
Thanks and sorry for yet another blower topic.

Which blower is best? A better question is which blower is best for me...for my driving style...my goals (short and long-term). Do you intend for your car to remain a daily driver...will it be raced...how often...do you just want big horsepower numbers (dyno racer) or will you be looking for ETs.

It's not all about building the motor. What's the point in 500-600 or more rear wheel if you have no traction. If you do plan on building a drag racer, you will have to rebuild or replace...rearend, transmission, fuel system, suspension + of course motor.

We just took it one step at a time. Car first had a supercharger with everything else stock...then went to a turbo and gradually rebuilt and to a larger turbo and now car is being rebuilt again for racing only. There is definitely a trade-off between low ETs and streetability though.

from what I understand both whipple and KB are good brands to go with, and both are capable of making good numbers. I know the KB mammoth that you mentioned is capable of crazy amounts of hp wayyyyy more than what anyone needs in my opinion, and KB is a very good, well known brand. so my vote goes for the KB

Both SC's are great ,.. but as mentoned above ... will this be a DD , full out race machine... if not , and just a DD, either one will give u great power and fun ! Do a video search on youtube and streetfire.net and see which one fits you better sound wise ! The magic rule so far is 500hp and under on these cars is pretty safe AS LONG AS YOU HAVE AN AWESOME TUNE !!!!

The car will be a dd, hopefully show car, I will continue to autocross. I just don't want to not have options if I want to turn the car into a monster some where down the line. The car sits all winter, that would be a perfect time to have the bottom end done, etc. I mean really wouldn't it suck to spend $7K on a super charger and then found out two years later it wasn't the best buy?
Thanks for your input, oh, does anyone know any good speed shops in the maine/nh area?
