i have a 93 lx hatch with new paint and black cobra rims with flowmaster 2 1/2 polished pipes. i love em but they ar getting to be a pain and the tire rubs them. problem is i have to cut em out or drop the axel and i dont want to do either just to see what it looks like.. anyone got pics of no pipes. i know this is every bit a 5.0 thing as the fender badge.

and how will the frpp lowering springs effect my traction at the track?? i have lakewood 50/50 rears and 70/30 front with a 275/45/17 bfg drag radial. putting about 400 to the ground with the 125 shot. 2600 stall aod

Wrap a round pipe with cloth, put it in the tail pipe and bend it away from the tire. You can bend them quite a bit to avoid rub without damaging them. I'd keep them.

I can't run tailpipes on mine due to unresolved gas tank heating issues on track...and I HATE it. Tailpipes are part of the look.

There should be no reason they rub the tires. I am running a 275/60/15 tire, with 3'' pipes, and they dont rub. It takes a lot of time to fit tailpipes right, but it can be done. They just need adjustment. Dont just bolt them on and think they are in the right place.

well thats all i need !! they are staying. thanx guys!! any thoughts on the springs. i was stupid and listened to american muscle and bought 4 17x9 rims . the 275 tire rear look great on the back but a 245 on the front looks a little off to me. the rim is a hair wider than the rubber. i was hoping a lowering spring would help it look better. i am running stock springs but she does see track time.

3" pipes are routed underneath the corners of the fuel tank unlike the 2 1/2" which run beside it. The 3" give more room for larger tires, but all tailpipes look better especially on an LX!

Looks like 255's on the front would look better, but would they rub up front?????? Wish they made these rally nice rims in say 8" for us Fox guys. I want the Saleen Replicas but am facing the same possible issues - and on an 86 with slightly smaller fender dia too.

keep them on. With dumps you are going to get exhaust smell all in the car and it will look hacked up. I have 17" wheels and tires and mine dont rub at all. You may need to just adjust the hanger a bit.

Those are flowmaster 3'' pipes. I have bassani 3'' pipes that follow the same lines of a factory tailpipe.

that looks way better, mine run up high and i have even melted one of the plastic fuel lines on it. looks like i will have to buy a 3 inch set as the way they are bent they almost come in contact with the tire and corner of the fuel tank the only way to fix it would be to squash the pipe which im not to crazy about.

Gotta have tails on an LX. I've been without for a couple years and I can't stand it.
