Realisticlly, what would a rear wheel power number be for this combo?

9 psi intercooled KB
Built for boost shortblock - 8:1 Compression
Stock Non-PI heads w/Comp Cams XE270AH-13 cams
FRPP Stainless Shorty Headers
Stainless Magnaflow X-Pipe with Cats
Magnaflow 2 1/2" cat-back
Proper Electronics tune

???? 450??

Would adding PI heads be worth the hassle? And how much power would they add?

you could use a 98 kb kit with a 99+ lower and custom fuel rails(im probably leaiving out a part or two). Ive seen it done by XMP.. If you call kb they will say they dont make the kit, but the install is not impossible.

You would probably spend chunk of money changing your fuel system if you did the headswap because of going returnless. If you want to do headwork, I would say you might be better off porting the npi heads. I'm not sure about your numbers though.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how the fuel sytem fits into this. As far as I know the fuel sytem in it's entirety fits the Non-Pi and the PI heads. Other than the port configuration, I don't see the problem.

As for PI heads on a Non-Pi shortblock, I'd rebuild the shortblock with forged pistons, steel crank, h-beam rods, etc... so I can choose my compression ratio accordingly.

It might be easier to get ported NPI heads from Avenger. They sell ported NPI heads for $1100 bucks.

The cpu and wiring and fuel system are different for 96-98 and 99+, and if you wanted to use pi heads you would need to get the 99+ KB kit, if you talk to KB they will tell you that you can't run the 99+ KB kit on a 96-98 car with a pi engine swap or pi head swap because of those issues and they have no plans to put together a kit that works for people that have swapped. So unless you change your fuel system, wiring, cpu etc then no u cant put the KB on your car with PI heads or even the whole PI engine. You are much better off getting the 96-98 kit and gettign some ported npi heads.

The problem is kenne bell doesnt make a kit for a 96-98 car with a pi headswap, 96-98 has return style fuel system and 99+ has returnless. So you gotta stick with the npi heads if you want to do kb kit.
the 98 has a returnless. its the biggest pain for the 98s to find a upgraded fuel pump.
