I have a 90 GT and I am wanting to supercharge it. Right now I am leaning toward a Kenne Bell. Thoughts? Suggestions? Alternatives?

Here is what is done to the car:
-Trickflow upper and lower
-BBK long tube headers
-BBK Cold Air Intake
-E303 cam
-3.73's
-t45 tans
-Steeda Tri-ax shifter
-Off Road BBK H-pipe w/ flows
-MSD

Just let me know what you think...:nice:

Go with the vortech v3. its a better blower and makes more power.
the kenny bell on a 5.0 is not as good cause of heat soak and doesnt
make as much boost as getting a vortech. Just my 2.cents

Do not think you have to have the gt40 lower...Kenne Bell makes 2 versions of it for the 5.0. One is called a Blowzilla, which you need the gt40 lower, but the other you do not. I have just heard that Kenne Bells are very good blowers so i am just checking it out...

A poll won't do anything, because all of the KB haters have no actual experience with them. A good friend of mine has an older KB on his 89 Saleen with a 306 and mildly worked heads. It puts down more than 400 hp to the rear wheels and has amazing low-end torque. Whether a twin-screw or centrifugal is "better" is a matter of what you want to do with it. If you're going to be drag racing every weekend and want all the top-end pull you can get, go Vortech. If you want to be able to blow anyone away stoplight to stoplight and like to be able to light them up at will, go Kenne Bell. Track use=centrifugal. Street use=twin screw. That's why I went with a KB 2.1 on my wife's Cobra. It will never see a track, but it is a BLAST on the street.

A couple local people here have/had them so I personally don't have experience with them but do know people that used them some liked it some didn't. The centrifugal seems to perform better to me. But like you said it depends on what your using it for. Myself, dont car about blowing off the tires light to light or something like that. I might look into a KB for the g/f's cobra over the vortech but thats because its OHC. Just my opinion.

It will definately be a street car, a daily driver with the occasional weekend street races....I have heard that a twin screw is more effiecent than a centrifigal? Any truth to this?

Just make a choice, do you want low to mid rang tq and power or do you want mid to high end tq and power. To me I think for mid to high rpm tq and power turbo is bar none a better choice than a vortech. Turbo's are power makers(anything that can make a stock 160hp 4 cyl go 10's and 11's in the 1/4 mile is amazing)

I looked into the KB i wanted it badly..But heard stories that its hard to tune...had some fitment issues...I think im going to a turbo i know you have to tune them too but you will have a car that will have alot of power when you need it..lol

That and with a good engine management system all it takes is touching a few buttons to dial in a more relaxed level for the street.

If I go with forced induction I will no doubt go with a single turbo setup.

Thats what im researching now..lol Im trying to find a good company that retains The A/C..P/S And Smog pump...:nice:..and then i will get one at Tax time....

yes, they are all upgraded to the blowzilla. I know someone who has a kb on a cobra and it is very nice and kb's are known for their quality. I have also heard that twin screw is more efficient than the centrifgal chargers. I just think it would be a good fit for my 5.0 with the mods i have listed above.

and I also heard quite the opposite about the tuning. I heard that they aren't that hard to have tuned.

Maybe they got better,I did alot of research about the KB i and i found it to be very nice supercharger just didnt want the hassle of tuning..but i guess anything being a blower or turbo needs tuning...Good luck lets us know how she goes when you get it...:nice:
