I installed my KB s/c about 2 years ago, and only drive my car in the summer very rarely. I have about 1000-1500 miles on the sc. THis morning when I started my car, I heard really funny sounds coming from under the hood. I determined it to be coming from the SC. I can feel things rattle inside of it, and also noticed that there are groves and scratches on the sc dipstick This really sucks, as it is out of warranty, and I bet KB will tell me I am SOL... I knew I should have gone n/a... I am so PO right now..

I have my car all setup to be supercharged, and not sure what I should do now.

If it ran, i would pull a Thelma and Louise I think

More than likely KB is probably going to tell you that its out of warranty and its gonna cost you but I would make a call to them, explain the situation (milage and all) and see what they say. The worst they can do is confirm what you already fear, that it is gonna cost you. If they say anything other than that its a bonus.

Make the call to them and then go from there. I don't hold much hope but sometimes thing work out. Good luck

If they won't fix it free, ask if they'll fix it for the cost of parts. Parts to rebuild an S/C shouldn't be much. I've rebuilt two Eaton blowers off Lightnings myself, and the actual rebuild only took 30 minutes. (Replacing the bearings in the nose, and new S/C oil)

they want service mentiond you posted on line and that we are all interested in their response.... see if they will cover some of the cost maybe just the shipping if they are stubborn make sure they know you have not modified it at all. and tell us how they respond "it always easier to keep customers than to make new ones" ... im a marketing major this is the creedo of my teachers

I think he might have to end up footing some of the bill because they dont know how many miles were actually put on the unit and for all they know he could have been out drag racing every weekend the last two years. Itd be nice if they actually met him halfway on the whole situation but I never hold my breath when it comes to parts dealers.

My buddies KB also got the death rattle...and stopped making full boost. I hear thats quite common with KBs. He scraped the whole setup b/c it was fairly expensive to have it rebuilt. sorry bout that man...gotta get her rebuilt. He had 1000 miles on his at the time. Personally i think it has something to do with the oiling and filtering.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I have only heard good things about KB products, although their customer service can at times be somewhat frustrating.
As others have said, give them a polite call, explain the situation and see what they have to say for themselves, it can hardly get any worse...

I installed my KB s/c (1.5L) in April 2003 and have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. I use my car as a dd year round, snow and everything, and sofar it has done more than 25,000 miles with the blower. Changed the s/c oil a few times, that's it.

My only regret is that i didnt go for the big one, the 2.2L, but I am still far from maxing out the one I have, heck I am still running the stock E7 heads and stock injectors..
