Local DA got into a fuss over some emgine mounts and ended up shooting off his mouth adn laying down a bill on this here bet.

He was saying that an '87-'88 v-8 fox uses different mounts that any newer or older v-8 fox. Something about the bolts not lining up w/ the K- member. I told him he was full of ***** and that he could use any from '87 to '93, and should be able to use any from '79 to '86 also. He was also saying that stock mounts from the parts store costed like $250.00. But that is a different story.

Thanks
Nate

my mounts from pep boys were like 35 bucks or somethin lol - can't give you info good enough to win your bet, but i agree with you on the 87-93 thing - but not certain either

If i had to make an educated guess, i would say all mounts from 87 to 95 would be interchangeable. My brand new prothane mounts which are stiffer aftermarkets didnt even cost 100, i dont know where he sh1t the 250 from. crapola

He is kinda right but wrong. He's right because from the factory the motor mounts are different in the 87-90 & 91-93 (not to sure on years) but the difference is the durability design (the part numbes are different), not the way they mount. He's wrong because all 87-93 can use the same ones. Parts stores are like $35/ea. My Prothanes were $89/set.

Later models use a captured mount (which was used on early aero fox verts).

I'll dig a little further into Hissin's post. From 87-92, the engine mounts were different between the Convertible and Hardtop cars. in 93 Ford switched over to the 'captured mounts they used in the convertible cars because they were stronger. The bolt patterns were the same, but the construction was different between the two. Most (if not all) aftermarket replacement parts use the stronger design as their replacements. This is the only difference.

Exactly. That is why in my posts for years I have recommended (if using parts store mounts) using ones for a 93 Hardtop or any aero vert. :nice:
