king cobra clutch

I have the King Cobra clutch...I like it a lot and it holds my power 95% of the time...and the pedal feel is heavy to a "regular" car...but light to me...you can slip it pretty easily to...it isn't like an on/off switch...

I bet you will like it... :nice:

yea its a good clutch for the money and for the holding power. Obviously if u beat on it they dont last more than about a year (im on my 3rd one) Like dropping it at 5 grand while u are already moving in 2nd to get it to turn sideways in traffic. At the track it holds good too, i would say 50% more holding power than stock.

does it use an organic disk? anyone have a comparison with it vs a SPEC stage 1 (which i do believe has an organic disk and some have noted the resultant chatter)?

I believe the King Cobra is advertised as having an "organic lining" but I'm not for sure how much organic that means or is?

I got the King Cobra clutch for the price and "ease" on some of us daily drivers...but I'm sure the Spec is the equivalent of the King Cobra...

Yeah I've seen the Spec 2 have chatter problems but it has a much nicer power hold...just to on/offish for me... ...and plus I got to worry about my tranny... :nice:

thanks 5spd. i had not seen nearly the chatter related gripes with the KC compared to the SPEC stage one. i was gonna get a stage 1 till read that. the stage 2 is kevlar, IIRC, but a lot more money.

i also have to worry about the 'weak link' in my drivetrain - dont want it not to be the clutch (but tires should be it - stocker size).

i appreciate the info - im trying to piece this stuff together for when the time comes. :)

the kc clutches rarely have chatter, and conversly, the specs are famous for it.

Kc clutches are good, but I wouldn't use one with much more than 300+ horses or so,or consistent quarter mile slick torture. Def won't break your trans

Hey...I try to piece in what I can :) ...I just remember when ordering the clutch about the "organic lining"...

That chatter problem is what made me go with the King Cobra as well...

Don't talk about tires :p because that reminds I got to get some...I'm dangerously low on tread right now...and with Christmas and all...can you say "ouch" :D

interesting. :) i have been following right along in your thought/logic path in terms of what clutch i would choose and why. scary and bad for you (that i am thinking along the same lines as you do). :)

dont tell me about it - i was at the tire shop today for the camaro. :bang:
in the meantime for you now, low tread is kinda like a slick. :)

had some other big expenses lately too. always at a time when expenses are already high (or the night before you leave on a trip). :)

ive got a king cobra also and i like it. its got very good pedal feel and hooks nicely. i had a centerforce in before i did my tranny swap and i like the king cobra better. it just seems a lot smoother when banging through the gears. its a lot more docile than the centerforce i had which is good since it is my daily driver
