KYB Shocks and Struts

Ok so I found a KYB shock and strut package on ebay and I was wondering how well they compare to Tokico or Bilstein shocks and struts. I plan on running either the Ford Racing C springs or an Eibach Pro Kit after winter is over so I figured Id upgrade the shocks and struts as well.

They are great. 4 way adjust front, 8 way rear. The rears adjust with a knob on the side which is way easier than the Tokicos. Bilsteins are great, but I would never buy a non-adjustable shock, personally. You can positively affect handling a lot by fine tuning them.
I got the earlier model shocks (for 80s stangs I think) because they are about 1" shorter and I have a decent drop.

Anyway, I've had them for 5 years. Love em. No issues. Well priced.

if they are the non adjustables, then its really not much better than stock. KYB adjustables are pretty good, but there are certainly better out there.

I disagree with the first part but totally agree with the second..

Stick with the C spring unless you want to scrape on EVERYTHING.

As far as the shocks/struts, the KYBs are more harsh then the Tokicos but they last a lot longer and work well with lowered setups. I had them on my car for over 60,000 miles and never had a single complaint about them.

If you are willing to spend more money then I'd recomend the Bilstiens.

Ive looked at both. The ones I was refering to here are actually the GR2 shocks and struts which are the non adjustables. So they are not much better than stock?

The GR2s have better valving then the stock shocks/struts but they are setup more for a daily driver. They should be nicer then stock but I don't think you will be happy with them if you want a performance shock. I don't think they are better then the Tokico setup that came on the Bullitts or Mach 1s.

I put the non adjustable KYB's on my 99 and was impressed.
They are definatly a good quality set up, and a bit stiffer(more firm) than stock.
When I go to replace my factory shocks and struts on the 04 I am
going with the KYB adjustables so I can play with the settings.
Ive got 50k on the stockers and they still feel like new........

weird, when I put GR-2 on mine replacing the stock, didn't feel much of a difference, but after switching to tokico, it was noticeably firmer than the GR-2

the stockers on the 99 were really shot, especially the rear shocks.
They were at about 80k. You could easily compress them by hand.(no resistance)
So the KYB's felt great as compared to the factory set.

I have them and would not buy again, the rears are destroyed in I would say 20k miles though the fronts seem to be holding up. Im going to try out the tokico blues this go around, I was trying to save some coin by going with these but I guess you get what you pay for deals.

Your Sportlines ate um up, They have an incredably high spring rate, no wonder.

The AGXs will hold up. I had them on my car for a long time with HARD cornering and they are still brand new. Put the rears on my dad's car after my driver got smacked up and he loves them too.
