Going to the body shop soon for a cobra rear bumper and cobra spoiler
so I washed it up and put a few miles on it even though it's still winter,
and colder than s**t!

So, am I retarded, or are your fenders/quarters wider than stock?

That's what I thought at first, too. But I think it's a combination of the angle and the GT side skirts that make it appear that way

I think they are widened... Look at the reflection on the front fender .. It sweeps out. And the gt kit doesn't line up to the body well right behind the front tire.. Gotta be pushed out... Regardless , it looks very bada$$

Those are definately widened...Just lose the saleens and go with some CCW classics and you'll be right on the money.

How was it done? Can you post pics of the mod? And lastly can it be done on a completed car or will it require repainting? Car looks badass!

The car was widened back in the mid 90's at Autokraft Paint & Body in Lincoln, NE.
I do not have pics of my car being done but I'll post a link to their website where you can see Doug building his
Smurf blue GT with the chopped top and widened fenders and quarters. Doug uses the factory Ford fenders and does his thing
The hatch has to be widened right around the bottom of the back window to match the width of the quarters otherwise
there would be some big gaps...
Then he mends the front valence, side-skirts, and rear valence to the widened fenders and quarters
We repainted the whole car. Technically you do not have to repaint your hood or doors..... but nose, skirts, rear bumper
roof/rear quarters, hatch, front fenders all have to be repainted

http://www.autokraftnebraska.com/
Click on the smurf blue foxbody for build pics
there's a picture of my black GT (stock) parked next to his chopped, widened gt before paint

Well, his gt is a bit too extreme IMO. Yours is subtle and clean... His gt reminds meof those over modded civics with all the unnecessary body mods

I think the widebody looks great. It's very subtle. Is the body shop going to heat up and contour the cobra bumper to work with the widened rear quarters?

They are, a friend of mine just had his quarters widened an inch and he used a cobra bumper. Doug had no problems making that bumper fit nicely...mine is .25" wider, but he sees no problems with that either....and yes his blue stang was taken a bit too far...kinda his rolling business card back in the day tho

I was gonna say, it just looks like his car was done in the 90's when that sort of thing was in. All trends come and go, but when you keep it stock looking, then you are golden til the end of time. You made a good choice with yours.

On the smurf blue mustang:

There are very few times I sit in my fox and say to myself, "Man! I have way too much headroom. If only I could get rid of 3" of my headroom my life would be complete."

That being said, it is clean work, just ruined the proportions of the car... so much nice work kinda wasted on making it look worse. I love the fender flares, can tolerate the exhaust, but I hate the roof chop. Killed the lines of the car.
