I'd say the worst part about a manual transmission is the lag at takeoff (for me at least.) I think I am doing something wrong. When I drive the Mustang takeoffs are very slow, then when I hop in an auto, I can just floor it and get a great takeoff. Whats the best way to jump off the line (dont worry Im not doing any street racing....never have), If I rev it high enough and then completely take my foot off the clutch pedal without stopping at the friction point, will the car just buck forward, or will it jump off the line (or will it spin the tires). I am being robbed of my favorite part of driving.....quick takeoffs. Someone please help me!

Well, when I had the '01 Cobra, I would rev it up and down (I think to 3000 rpm), slowly let go of the clutch and just when it starts to grab, step on it and quickly let up the clutch. (Is that called 'dumping the clutch?) I never learned all the terminology.

first question id ask is do you have a tuner. are you having throttle lag or are you bogging. if its throttle lag, a tuner/ cai intake would remedy that. also lower gears. with my 4:10s and tuner i have no problem with takeoffs
