Not talking about race launching, i'm talking about getting the car going from a stop in daily traffic, on regular street tires. Someone got 4.10's on a 5spd GT and said that launching at anything above idle is a pain and causes wheel spin, is that so? With stock gears I usually rev it to about 2000 RPM, then launch from there... would this not work anymore? (keep in mind, im talking about daily driving NOT racing)

Honestly i dont have much problem launching with 410's. I knwo I have alot bigger tires than most, but even on the stock tires/wheels it didn't have that much trouble. What i have trouble with, even with the bigger tires, is when you shift into second. Car just goes everywhere, it'll even step out in 3rd =/

It's all in how you work the clutch. Your friend isn't doing it right apparently.

I've never had any problems starting off in 1st gear with my 4.10's.
Everyone was saying how you have to relearn how to start in 1st and how to drive.
I didn't have to relearn anything
I only spin if I try.

if you cant get moving from a stand still with 4:10's ... then you need to re-learn how to drive

You barely need to touch the gas to roll out smoothly in first. I like launching with 4.10's better than the stock gearing.

No problems here either. Wet pavement takes a little getting used too but it is not too hard.

With you, I would think it's especially bad in reverse.

seriously backing out of parking spaces is difficult when there is just a white cloud looming

Yeah, 3 old people had to be hospitalized after the smoke from my tires drifted over the retirement home.

I heard if you use 4.30's, there's so much torque the rim blows up.

I dont have any problems with my 4.10's. You cant just rev it up to 1500 and dump it, you have to slip it out gently, but thats how you should drive anyway. Im not talking about burning up the clutch, you just let it out slowly until the car starts to move, just like you should do during normal driving. Dont get me wrong, you can lite up the tires like there is no tomorrow, but it shouldnt happen during normal driving.
