I launch around 1500-1800 rpm easing off the clutch, when clutch is fully released i floor it to about 5K then shift to second, I chirp 2nd, then the rest is all motor.. (tread on tire is very good) What i'm worried is that 1st gear does not spin at all? does this mean i'm doing a good job of launching? or is my car a pig...
I know if i pop the clutch @ 1500-2K I'll spin 1st and 1/2 of 2nd. My car is stock with stock rear. I have BBK headers and flows, hurst short throw shifter, car just had full tune up, timing bumped to 14*. 130K on motor... This is my second mustang, and will be visiting the track this sunday for the first tiem ever... wish me luck..
BTW, any words of advice at the track? my friend said that i should launch a little harder casue of all the rubber on the track. is this true?
with mycurrent setup, with perfect launch, what's my changes of really low 14's? i know that might sound like i'm pushing it, but this car seems pretty fast and held it's own with a LT1..
EDIT: i have a '90 coupe, 5speed
