LB2 computer with A4LD?

As mentioned in an earlier post, I'm leaving my current automatic tranny in the car until I get enough funds to swap it out for a manual. My question is, was the LB2 computer designed specifically for A4LD? Secondly, will the LA3 computer work properly with an A4LD until I can get a T5 installed, or would the LB2 be the better option?

neither the La3 or Lb3 will work right.
I have been running a Lb3 for a while now, and I never could get the torque converter lockup to work right. The Lb3 has the pin out, but for whatever reason I never could get to work. Fortunatly, that is the only thing on the tranny controlled by the computer. I ended up wiring the torque converter so it would always be locked up. This works because the tranmission does not allow the torque converter to lock up in 1st or 2nd, or under 40mph. The only downside is a slight jerking when you let of the gas, but it is just about the same as what you get in a manual car.
Also, just make sure you rewire it for the computer you are using. There are different sensor for each computer to tell the computer if the transmission is in gear.

Isn't a LB2 and LB3 made for the A4LD cars anyways?

Yes, but the 87-88 TC uses a 3 wire A4ld instead of a 2 wire.
I tried everything to make that computer control my transmission, but never could get it to work. I even added the speed sensor wires, and all that stuff.

So the LB2 and LB3 are identical? <edit>If I just want to get the engine in my car and use my A4LD until I can get a 5 speed, what computer should I use? Can this even be done (well, I know it can be done, but done well)?

I'm sure it can be done but well...I'm not sure. Buff mentioned there is small differences in the A4LDs in the TCs and N/A cars. The only thing I could think of is asking Jaime or someone like that off TF if there is a way to wire it to work well.

There are some small differences between the Lb2 and Lb3. one is from an 87, the other an 88. the Lb3 has a slightly faster processor, and maybe slightly different tables, but most of this isn't anything you would notice.
