I already have a offroad x-pipe and I was leaning towards jba headers. Some people say there just as good for performance gains as long tubes. My car is lowered 2 inches too.

Anybody here bought jba shorties and than regreted it and went to long tubes?
Anybody here seen or heard of dyno sheets for jba's vs. bbk longs, mac longs, or hooker longs?

I'm kinda at a stand still with what headers to get and if to keep my x-pipe or get another one. This topic seems to be a very biased.

Any info or thoughts yall good give me i appreciated

I've got JBAs and I like. N/A they don't produce the power long tubes do, but it seems they come pretty close if you are blown. I think its pretty interesting that most of the people on this board will put them down, but Cobra Killer uses them on alot of his high power setups.

Most people have said that they only make a lot of rwhp when you are running a power adder. I don't think they make that much of a difference NA. Thats just what I've heard though...

I have JBA headers, and I can't honestly say they made a noticable difference, even with my blower. I do have stock 98 heads, and I'm sure that is the major bottleneck in my engine now...

It's really a preference theres ups and downs to every brand and type of header out there. Shorties really don't produce much power i've seen 3-7 hp gains but thats only from 3 or 4 dynos. BBK and MAC put down good power but its a PITA to get the tranny out if you need to. The hookers solve that problem but in 2 dynos i've seen the MAC's put down more power than the hookers. If you go long tubes you can cut down the pipe and weld on the flanges. You may need to take it to an exhaust shop so they can bend the pipe a little.

JBA now offers mid lengths too for the 4.6 2v 96-04 GT's and Bullitts. They claim an additional 31 hp and 30 lb of tq

call JBA up and ask them if they have any dyno sheets for you. I talked to J. the other day and he told me he does have them and they should be scanned into their computers. They might be able to email them to you.

Don't rule out Bassani mid-length headers. They are also top notch.

I love it! They were more expensive than the other brands but the benefits far outweigh the price. The sound is incredible. As far as power goes, it pulls harder and longer once you hit 3000 rpm. I have the catted x-pipe. I highly recommend it. If you are interested, houstonperformance.com has the best prices.

I think the jba are a good comprimise. on our cars 7-10hp is a good mod. I have seen those gains with them. of couse that was other poeople. I will proably go shorties just cause I dont' want to have to screw with my headers to change a clutch etc. I don't like hooker headers. so that kind of leaves me at the jba's.

I went from 301 to 318rwhp peak with JBA 1 5/8" headers. The black line is the 301 before, the green line is after the JBAs. To note - I had a dyno tune from before AND after the JBA install. Pardon the photoshop overlay hack
job.

But you have a 4 valve, shorties are a proven worthwhile mod on the 4 valve cars.

I have been told repeatedy by people more knowledgeable than myself that on the 2 valve cars shorties are worth basically nothing. Even the longtubes don't seem to give all that much peak horsepower but they are great powerband improvers. Kind of like the Bullitt intake...
