Let's beat a dead horse, weld wheels/tire size for an 86

Ok I've searched the threads but I need a straight answer. I've got weld draglites, 15x3.5 and 15x8. On the fronts I'm gonna put 165/80R15 but have no idea what will fit under the rear on the 15x8's for my 86 GT. The rears have 4.5 backspace. The car has been lowered 2 inches. Will 275/60 fit or do I need to go to something smaller? I do not want to beat anything with a mallet nor have any rubbing. Thanks.

Nope, shoulda got the 5.5 b/s. They are gonna stick outa the fenderwell and look like crap!!!

Ok well these are the same posts I read all ready and they still don't give me a definite answer. I got a deal on the 4.5 used not thinking it was a bid deal. To get 275's on I'm assuming they'll rub the outer lip. How about 265, 255, 245, 15's etc? The car has been lowered 2'" all around.

IMO - 275 on a 8" rim might be too much tire. I would look for a 255 / 245 sized tire to match up better with the rim and not have any "balloning." Of course, I am thinking about a street tire and not a pure strip tire.

The best way to tell if the rims will stick out or not will be to take one of your stock rims and measure the BS that it has. I don't know what they are from the factory..... so I am no help in that department

275 is not too much for an 8" wheel. The problem lye's with the 2" drop and the 4.5 backspacing. I have a buddy that had 275's on an 8 with no problem. Car wasn't lowered and had the 5.5 backspace!!

I have a 15x8 weld with a 295/50/15 BF goody radial. Rubs a bit around turns but my car isn't lowered and I have 5.5" backspacing. A 275 will fitthe rim fine but without the right backspacing u may have a problem with it rubbing the outer fender. Heres mine

exactly. I know the 275/50 will fit the 8" but will it fit on the car with the 4.5bs? I don't want to buy another set of wheels cuz they don't exactly come cheap to us in the great white north. however if anybody knows or has the widest tire with a 4.5bs on a 15x8 draglite please let me know.
