well i'm hoping my car will put down anywhere between 600-700rwhp *hopefully*. now that the motor is done and will be coming home soon, i've been thinking about clutches. i kind of had my mind set on a spec stage 3+ but after talking to g-force they kinda said it'd have trouble with high RPMs. something about the clearances being .30 and they should be .50. no idea what it means, but can someone steer me in the right direction for a somewhat street friendly clutch that can handle high HP?

anyone know what the new centerforce DFX clutches can do?

kinda off the topic but make sure to get a good clutch cable, I have only a king cobra in my car and the first cold night in florida the cable straight up snapped, was almost new.

I have heard good things about the DFX clutches...Centerforce makes a good clutch. I run a spec stage II in my car right now and i love the feel! I am running a steeda AL quadrant with an OEM ford cable, firewall adjuster and the stage II clutch. The clutch action is so precise, its almost hydraulic like. And the clutch grabs like crazy. Even when its hot. Over 10k miles on it now....i just had a look at it the other day and it looks brand new.

A couple recommendations is to make sure and buy and OEM ford cable AND throw out bearing. They seem to be the only ones to hold up to the constant abuse...and the ford cable give the BEST/LIGHTEST pedal effort! good luck man

Perhaps you should start a thread over at turbomustangs.com as they will have more experience with big power mustangs. dont see many 600+rwhp cars over here. FWIW the twin disc setups look/appear to be very streetable.

Ram makes a nice dual disc setup that most that have ran swear by. Its prob going to be had to keep a single disc setup in the car. Iam going to run a Ram 900 series when I swap out my junk centerforce, those are rated to hold 650 rwhp according to the last customer support person I talked to from Ram.

RAM 900 clutch at 740 rwhp after 10 passes on slicks. Get a real clutch or you'll get tired of changing them out. RAM makes a great street dual disk setup. FWIW the 900 lived until around 650-700 rwhp and then I started having issues.

I'd like to know what clutch is good! One thing I do know is that I melted a Spec stage III plus, I have a Centerforce in it temporairly until I come up with somthing else. I think that when I changed combos from GT 40 lower and Cobra upper intakes to Hogan upper and Trick Flow lower the hp got jacked up and that Spec just wasn.t gonna cut it. I saved the clutch to show the Spec rep, but it probably will be fruitless.

go with a mcleod twin disc setup, comes with the flywheel and i think its around 1000 bucks, i bought a DFX from centerforce and its nice, but the clutch is definitly a brute, kind of like an on/off switch and i was told by centerforce that it was rated to 650 hp
