So how does all of your insurance stuff work?
As I understand it, the insurance co. pays for everything less your deductable?
What happens if say you had come out side and saw your car all messed up? would insurance work differently for you than if you got into an accident on the road?

I would like to know b/c I fear that my car will get broken into and F-ed up at my college parking lot (tires slashed/paint keyed/door dented etc) and I want to know what coverage I should invest in and how much I would have to pay myself, if such an act occured upon my pride and joy.
Also, would I have to pay "extra" to my insurance co. after damage has been done to my car?

FYI I had a $1000 deductable before I left to study in Australia. I will be back in July and I want my car covered from all vandals and treats.
Can anyone reccomend a solid insurance co. in Ma?
Is Geiko a bunch of BS?
Please forgive me but I really would like to know!

I too like to be covered for all treats.

"Collision" insurance is for when you have a wreck. covers your car.

"Comprehensive" is what covers vandals, etc. covers your car

"Liability" is coverage only for other people/stuff you tear up when you crash. Some states allow you to carry only this if you own the car outright. This means if you crash it, you fix it. It gets broken into, you fix/replace it...DOESN'T cover YOUR car

"Uninsured/underinsured" is for when the guy with only liability crashes in to you, and does more damage than he has coverage for, or no coverage at all. covers your car.

They all can be set up with different "deductables" which effects the cost to you of each type. You also can get extra coverage for "custom parts". Higher deductable means lower payment, but more risk for you.

i figured most of the insurance stuff out and it sounds like i am going to pay $100 for the deductable and everything is going to be fixed better than it was in the first place. What sucks though is that the bumper is actually not damaged. It is so flexible that nothing perminant happened to it, so the insurance is prob. just going to cover the paint and labor for that. That means that I have to pay for the cobra bumper out of my pocket, but I was going to do that anyway and now I don't have to pay to paint it. I'm also going to have to buy the complete foglight kit.

as far as insurance goes, this is under comprehensive with a $100 deductable, I have no clue what theft falls under???

p.s. I know its stupid, but i actually don't have colision coverage on my car, so if I cause an accident, I have to stuck it up and pay. It was like $1,100 more a year for collision, that really isn't worth it in my oopinion, b/c i only bought my car for $6000. Although it looks nothing like i bought it though.

here are some more pics before during and after the springs.

The white gt is what my car will look like with the cobra bumper. What do ya think???? I think it looks way better with the cobra bumper than the gt bumper. This is the only car i have ever found that has the same hood as me and it has a cobra bumper.

p.s. If it is nice tomorrow, i will take a pic of my car in my driveway with the springs, so you ca see the huge difference.

-Well Nick, I guess I'm not the only one who likes my hood. hehe. It may not be for everone, but it is rare which is a really good thing and it is going to look way better when my car gets fixed.

man that is horrible I am always worried about deer, NE ohio is over run with them bastard's. it's hard to feel comfortable about doing a hell blast down a road around here I worry more about the deer than the law. Hey it could be worse when i lived in colorado there was a woman killed when a mule deer jumped off a low cliff straight into the windshield.sorry to see that, car looks/looked great.

You should hold off on the fog light kit, and see how the bumper looks with the hood when everything is on and painted. I think it might look better w/o the lights as it will match better. I think it looks good with the '97 cobra hood depending on the color, and your hood is similar aesthetically speaking. Also if you like it, then you will have saved some money.

EDIT: I'm talking about the cobra bumper minus the fog lights.

why don't you think the foglights would look good???? It is better than an empty hole. It isn't a bad idea to wait for the car to get done thouhg, b/c if i change my mind, i won't be stuck with foglights. My car should look just like the white gt above, just red. It will actually be the same front end as a 96-98 cobra, except for the hood scoops would be in a different spot. Also, the scoops in my hood are actually the exact same oem ford scoops as the 96-98 cobra hoods.

I didn't mean they wouldn't look good, just that it might look cool w/o them. There was a post with pics a while ago of a white GT that had the cobra hood and bumper sans the fogs, and I thought it looked good--it gave it a meaner appearance. Though it might vary with color (ie: not look as good on a darker color).
It was just a thought (I think it would look good w/the fogs too, but your opinion is the one that counts).

my car got quoted at $2,500 today. Obviously that is 90% labor though. Anyways, I think I am getting a new hood afterall. I am leaning towards a 2.5" cobra R from H.O. fibertrends. It is only $369 and I am picking it up on my way through ohio, so no shipping either. It is going to suck not have a hood that no one else has, but the quality will be way better than mine and it should look really good.

I used to be posted to an artillery base in Manitoba that was overrun by deer, I think they should be eliminated, each and every one of them. Driving home 20 minutes from the nightclub i worked at each night turned out to be a game of dodge the deer at 3 in the morning. The good news, I won every time. Had some close calls though, and a few times i thought of hitting them just for some new parts, but I can never get enough nerve to smash my car intentionally. I think the stang would get moody if it knew I had done something on purpose like that. Sorry to hear about the car, man, can't wait to see it when it's all back in order, it's looking great with the springs.
