One of the little lights that makes the gauges glow burned out apparently, can't see the left side of my speedo at night. Is this something I can easily fix myself or should I just blow it off and take it to the dealership?

may be a good time to add some white face gauges. i bet u will have to take the gauge cluster out of the car to replace the light. why not add some white face gauges while u have it apart??
Yah I did think about that but I realized I like the stock black ones better... i'm attempting to make the whole car black right now and white face gauges just wouldn't fit right with the overall look of my car (tinted tails, dark window tint, experimenting with tinting spray and clearcoat to make my emblems look black chrome, that kinda thing.)

StreetStang03: Yah, I did one today on the pony in an extra grill I had laying around... looks pretty good, with the tinting spray i used some of the chrome still shines through then the clearcoat makes it nice and reflective... as soon as I get a digital camera from my friend ill take pics and post a new thread on it... I want Stangnet's opinion before I do it to my actual car.

As crazy as this sounds, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes then reconnect. My cougar dash went out and half my tach and all the guages on the right side went out. I disconnected the battery to do something to the car and it fixed it. I had them "out" for about 2 weeks before the battery thing.

Fixing a dash bulb is easy. Yank off the headlight knob, remove the gauge trim, and unbolt the cluster. There are only two wiring harnesses connected to the cluster; they even have clips to make removal easy

One should not even have to remove the wiring harnesses. There is enough play in them, to be able to pull the cluster out and tilt it forward. The back of the cluster will then be point up, and you can easily reach the bulb sockets. The five white colored sockets are for the lighting, and grey colored sockets are for the idiot lights. They just twist 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and pull put.
The worse part is removing that headlight knob. After that, it should only take about 15-20 minutes to do.
Havent looked at it yet this morning, but how do you remove the headlight knob?
