LIGHTEN MY VERT...with a conversion???

does/has anyone know/heard of converting a convertible to being a manual up and down process....and turning the construction of the top into maybe a more lightweight setup....if this doesn't exist someone should make a kit to do this (then verts would weigh less than a coupe as they should)....200lbs is a good weight/time drop whoever creates this kit will be a rich man and i should get some off the top for having thought of it....

I dont know of such a kit that exists. I think that a lot of the weight is across the pillar that your convertible top latches too ( the pillar that the sunvisors is on). From what I have heard, and I dont know first hand so someone correct me if I am wrong, but that part of the frame in the verts is a lot stronger and in turn a lot heavier in case you ever flip the car. So your idea of a conversion may not help the weight as much as you think...

seems like it would be a pain in the ass to climbin the back to grab the top.
