Lighting Idea (need Opinions)

Hey guys... I love trying to do things that arent in the Norm for what people like to do. So my latest idea I cant determine whether I think it will turn out nice... or be a total flop.

What I am wanting to do is take the MUSTANG lettering... Cut them out.. put a sheet of tinted plastic mounted up on the inside of the bumper... so all appears the same... then just put a Red light behind it... and wire it to the brakes.

what does everyone think... give it a shot... or leave it as is...

thanks:nice:

you talking about a tinted taillight cover that has a form-factor to the tail light housings?

im not sure where you can get a cover like that but you can certainly tint the taillights yourself

Would look good if you can keep the clean smooth bumper look:nice:
You could do it? I've got idea's how?
Cut you a rectangle out in the bumper around the "MUSTANG" leave bout "1-1/2" - "2" inches around the lettering to work with. But set in apiece of Lexan clear? thickness? have to kinda play with the idea little more. But smooth out the bumper little bodywork? But then have the "MUSTANG" letter's masked off paint the bumper. Then when you peel the lettering off should be clear if you were carefull? Hookup led's behind bumper to shine the "MUSTANG" through the clear in the bumper? You can even take an put a tinted clear? like on some taillights an headlights that get tinted? So you have the blacked out look on the letter's an hookup light to brake pedel :nice: so when you hit the brake the "MUSTANG" letter's light up?

as a note there is no room behind the bumber to put a light so it would have to be one of those optical light mats like what they use for guages. the other option is to use a piece of acrylic and have L.E.D.'s around it but might look to good as there would be light and dark spots as LED's are to directional.
I vote No! personally

I think each letter should have its own light, then you can have them be random colors. and sequentially blink when you go left or right.

OR,, fill them up with TONS AND TONS of LED's and have kind of a Las Vegas style color animated loop of horses running from left to right.

Surprised no one mentioned the legality of this...

There's a reason only 4 of the 6 brake lights work on our cars ;) Not sure if it's a 50 state thing but I know where I lived in the past there is a 6 brake light rule and since it's mandatory to have the 3rd brake light (which on our cars counts as the 5th) you lose the last pair being functional on our stock housings.

So in effect you'd do all the work and you wouldn't be able to use it as a brake light, you could only turn it on at shows or whatever... and I haven't been to many night time shows

So why do the 2010+ mustangs have sequential that use all three on both sides? Someone lied to you. And I don't see that being a state specific thing. You really think Ford would do something like that and then have to swap out the tail lights to sell it in certain states?

OP: I think it will take a lot of time and effort to make it look even half decent...but it will look good if it's done right. Just don't give up function of the rear bumper.

I never heard anything like that either.... but he is from the United Kingdom, so I dunno
