I have a 97 GT and have a chance to get an 01 Lightning engine. How hard would this swap be. I know i will need an 8 bolt manual flywhee seeing how i want to stick with the 5 spd. I know i will also need a bigger fuel pump, heat exchanger for the intercooler, an extra 6-8 inchs of hood clearance, duct tape, and prayer. But what about ecm and wiring. I should be able to use my stock ecm with a tune correct?. Another i am concerned about are going from coil packs to coil on plug. Any help would be nice, thanks.

You don't have to use the cop design. It will work with your coil packs, pending your packs can support a blower motor... Honestly.... Put a pi swap on ur car and a blower. A lot less work and it won't stick out 8 inches above your hood...

i was kinda going for shock and aw with this project. So the 8 inches of blower would help a lot. Besides i am could get the motor for a steal. The PI swap with a blower would probably cost me more i would think.

There's "shock" and there's "retarded":

Then again, if you can live with a ludicrously high hood and still have 6-inches of engine junk poking out the top:

it would meet your requirements for "shocking"... :|

There's a guy over on SVTPerformance.com that swapping in a Lightning motor into his SN95 GT (just like yours). I forget what his name is. You can go over and do a search for "lightning swap" or something similar. I'd do it for you but I can't do a search seeing as Im currently suspended lol.

buy the engine and do the install..the lightning in stock form can haul some ass, and its 4800 pounds. imagine that in a lighter mustang. itll kill everything in sight. its a pretty straight forward swap, much similar to a PI swap with a blower...
