Line lock questons

Of course you can use it on your automatic ABS or no-ABS. Here's how it will go for you:

-Stop the car and keep it in Drive or 1st.
-Now you gotta PUMP the break pedal til it is very hard to push in. Its ready. So KEEP it pushed in.
-Flick your switch(on/off switch) or use the switch they give you with your kit which you need to hold it ON for it to work.
-Release your brake pedal and still hold the switch ON.
-At this point, you dont have any brakes in the rear, only the front will hold you in place.
-Do your burnout in 1st I guess. Depending of your gearing/rpm you might need to shift the tranny to 2nd gear.(maybe 3rd for all I know)
-When there's enough smoke :D and your tires are sticky release your button/switch that you're still holding and the stang will start to move forward.

Enjoy.:nice:

well that seems simple enough at the burnout box...i would use my own toggle in the ashtray switches since i have a opening available :D

but how does staging work?? when i roll up to the line if i loc the front and preload im just going to start another huge burnout right?? is line loc not usefull at the tree for a auto car??

Thats exactly how I had mine also. Didnt like the idea to hold the switch the whole time...

I wouldnt use it either at the staging lanes. I think what you need is a "transbreak". Not positive about it though but I'm sure some AODE guys will climb in here to confirm.

yeah i was looking into a transbrake before this thread came up and they are some serious cash lol thats why i was excited to see a line loc cost so little but it looks like i still need a transbrake

seems easier to get the engine to rev up without sliding or spinning the tires

what kind of times does you car run? I think a line-lock is going to do the same thing you're looking for out of the transbrake. Unless you have a high stall converter I don't see it being worth the money for the transbrake.

never taken this car to the track yet.... its pretty stock but whats going to go into it should be really powerful so i figured i would build the trans to handle it..

Well I guess it depends on what you want to do with the car. Most of the guys that get real serisous about it switch to a C4 and buy one with the transbrake in it. Till then I would just use the line lock. It's better to only have to do it once. I know I've done things twice more times than I can count :notnice:

Is that line-lock rebuildable?

I use a moroso one and keep a rebuild kit with me at the track.

Nothing worse than getting in the middle of a race day and having your line-lock fail. :notnice:

If you haven't ordered it you might consider one that is rebuildable if that one is not. :nice:
