I tightened the rocker arm down on the #1 cylinder and the car actually runs now. before, it was very un happy.

Listen to the two audio files below and let me know if you hear anything weird. The timing looks spot on, The idle seems really fast and I hear knocks every cycle both behind the car and unbder the hood.

I would relash all the valves then check timing to see if you have about 10-12 degrees at idle with vacuum advance disconnected. Also, run your hand along the exhaust manifold and feel if the exhaust manifold is leaking. An exhaust leak at the manifold surface can sound almost similar to rod knock. Check your oil pressure if its okay- - 10 psi per 1000 rpm.
